Throwback – I kemi edhe 12 orë të tjera

Ekspozitë në kuadër të temës Arkivimi i Tranzicionit

E kuruar nga Catherine Nichols, I kemi edhe 12 orë të tjera riktheu në vëmendje ngjarjen historike I kemi 12 orë – kinse art, të organizuar në vitin 2004 – një moment kyç ku arti, aktivizmi dhe angazhimi qytetar u ndërthurën për të reflektuar mbi të ardhmen e Kosovës.
Si pjesë e ciklit Archiving Transition, ekspozita solli së bashku vepra arti, materiale arkivore, performanca dhe histori gojore, duke rindërtuar kujtesën e një kohe kur arti u përdor si mjet për të sfiduar realitetin dhe për të imagjinuar mundësi të reja.

Njëzet vjet më vonë, ekspozita na riktheu te pyetjet që mbeten po aq aktuale: Nga kemi ardhur? Ku jemi tani? Dhe ku po shkojmë?

Throwback – We Still Have Another 12 Hours

Exhibition as part of the Archiving Transition theme

Curated by Catherine Nichols, We Still Have Another 12 Hours revisited the landmark 2004 event We Have 12 Hours – So-Called Art, a pivotal moment when art, activism, and civic engagement came together to reflect on the future of Kosovo.

As part of the Archiving Transition cycle, the exhibition brought together artworks, archival materials, performances, and oral histories, reconstructing the memory of a time when art became a tool to challenge reality and imagine new possibilities.
Twenty years later, the exhibition returned to the questions that remain just as relevant today: Where have we come from? Where are we now? And where do we go from here?

Throwback – Back to the Gorges of Balkan
Ekspozitë në kuadër të temës Arkivimi i Tranzicionit

Back to the Gorges of Balkan, e kuruar nga Thibaut de Ruyter, riktheu në Galeria 17 veprat e artistëve nga Kosova që kishin marrë pjesë në ekspozitën historike In the Gorges of the Balkans, të kuruar nga René Block në Kassel në vitin 2003.

Njëzet vjet më vonë, ekspozita rihapi dialogun me këtë moment kyç të historisë së artit bashkëkohor, duke risjellur veprat e Dren Maliqit, Merita Harxhi-Kocit, Driton Hajredinit dhe Jakup Ferrit. Përmes tyre, publiku u ftua të reflektojë mbi kujtesën, identitetin, politikën dhe rolin e artistit në një shoqëri në tranzicion.

Duke parë këto vepra sot, bëhet e qartë se pyetjet që ato ngritën dy dekada më parë mbeten po aq aktuale. Back to the Gorges of Balkan na kujtoi se arti nuk është vetëm dëshmi e së kaluarës, por një mjet për të kuptuar të tashmen dhe për të imagjinuar të ardhmen.

Throwback – Back to the Gorges of Balkan
Exhibition as part of Archiving Transition theme

Curated by Thibaut de Ruyter, Back to the Gorges of Balkan brought back to Galeria 17 the works of artists from Kosovo who had participated in the landmark exhibition In the Gorges of the Balkans, curated by René Block in Kassel in 2003.
Twenty years later, the exhibition reopened a dialogue with this pivotal moment in the history of contemporary art by reactivating the works of Dren Maliqi, Merita Harxhi-Koci, Driton Hajredini, and Jakup Ferri. Through their works, visitors were invited to reflect on memory, identity, politics, and the role of the artist in a society in transition.
Looking at these works today, it becomes clear that the questions they raised two decades ago remain just as relevant. Back to the Gorges of Balkan reminded us that art is not only a testimony to the past, but also a way of understanding the present and imagining the future.

Throwback – Përtej

Ekspozitë në kuadër të temës Arkivimi i Tranzicionit

E kuruar nga Blerta Hoçia dhe Fitore Isufi Shukriu, Përtej ishte pjesë e programit të Manifesta 14 Prishtina, duke rikthyer në vëmendje ekspozitën historike të vitit 1997 në Beograd – një moment kyç në historinë e artit bashkëkohor të Kosovës.

Përmes veprave të Ilir Bajrit, Mehmet Behlulit, Maksut Vezgish*t dhe Sokol Beqirit, dhe kuruar nga Shkelzen Mailiqi në vitin 1997 , ekspozita rikontekstualizoi një periudhë të shënuar nga izolimi, tensionet politike dhe praglufta, duke dëshmuar se arti mund të shërbejë si një formë rezistence, dialogu dhe dëshmie.

Punët e ekspozuara në vitin 2022 në Galeria 17 dhe Hotel Grand, nuk pasqyronin vetëm realitetin e viteve ’90, por edhe ankthin, intuitën dhe vizionin e artistëve përballë një të ardhmeje të pasigurt. Përtej na ftoi të reflektojmë mbi fuqinë e artit për të kapërcyer kufijtë e kohës, mbijetesës dhe historisë, duke mbetur një dëshmi e rëndësishme e kujtesës kolektive.

Throwback – Përtej

Exhibition as part of Archiving Transition theme

Curated by Blerta Hoçia and Fitore Isufi Shukriu, Përtej was part of the Manifesta 14 Prishtina programme, revisiting the landmark 1997 exhibition in Belgrade—a pivotal moment in the history of contemporary art in Kosovo.
Through the works of Ilir Bajri, Mehmet Behluli, Maksut Vezgishi, and Sokol Beqiri, and curated by Shkelzen Mailiqi in 1997 the exhibition recontextualized a period marked by isolation, political tensions, and the imminent outbreak of war, demonstrating how art can serve as a form of resistance, dialogue, and testimony.

The exhibited works in 2022 at Galeria 17 and Grand Hotel reflected not only the reality of the 1990s, but also the artists' anxiety, intuition, and vision in the face of an uncertain future. Beyond invited us to reflect on the power of art to transcend the boundaries of time, survival, and history, remaining a vital testament to collective memory.

Në Permanent Raging Presence, kolektivi Total Refusal eksploron marrëdhënien mes punës, kohës së lirë dhe kapitalizmit përmes NPC-ve (personazheve jo-luajtës) në videolojëra.
Përmes veprave Hardly Working dhe Club Stahlbad, ekspozita zbulon ciklet e pafundme të punës dhe argëtimit të koduar që formësojnë jetën e këtyre personazheve digjitalë. Duke reflektuar mbi rutinën, përsëritjen dhe kontrollin, puna ngre pyetje mbi kushtet e punës në shoqërinë bashkëkohore dhe mundësitë për rezistencë brenda sistemeve të programuara.

Throwback – Permanent Raging Presence

Exhibition as part of the theme Techne

In Permanent Raging Presence, Total Refusal explores the relationship between labour, leisure, and capitalism through NPCs (non-playable characters) in video games.
Through the works Hardly Working and Club Stahlbad, the exhibition reveals the endless cycles of work and coded entertainment that shape the lives of these digital characters. Reflecting on routine, repetition, and control, the project raises questions about working conditions in contemporary society and the possibilities for resistance within programmed systems.

Në "you know me so well", Martina Menegon eksploron marrëdhënien mes trupit fizik dhe vetes sonë digjitale përmes autoportreteve virtuale, avatarëve të krijuar nga AI dhe të dhënave biometrike.
Ekspozita trajtoi identitetin si diçka fluide dhe hibride, duke hapur reflektime mbi kujdesin ndaj vetes, privatësinë, mbikëqyrjen e të dhënave dhe mënyrën si teknologjia formëson përvojën tonë bashkëkohore.
Përmes imazheve glitch dhe ndërveprimit virtual, ekspozita ftoi publikun të rimendojë kufijtë mes ekzistencës fizike dhe asaj digjitale.

Throwback – Forehead V***a Channeling Research
Ekspozitë në kuadër të temës Techne

Forehead V***a Channeling Research nga S()fia Braga është një hulumtim spekulativ transhumanist që eksploron potencialin e trupit për mirëqenie emocionale përmes ndërthurjes me teknologjinë. Duke përdorur mjete të realitetit të shtuar, projekti synon të “rikalibrojë” perceptimet mbi kënaqësinë, trupin dhe identitetin.
I zhvilluar si një praktikë hibride mes trupit fizik dhe shtesave digjitale, ai krijon identitete të reja në transformim të vazhdueshëm, duke sfiduar normat e standardizuara mbi trupin dhe mënyrat e performimit të tij.
Duke u përhapur edhe në hapësirat online si një performancë spontane globale, projekti hap diskutime mbi rolin e teknologjisë në formësimin e përvojës njerëzore.

Throwback – Forehead V***a Channeling Research
Exhibition as part of the theme Techne

S()fia Braga’s Forehead V***a Channeling Research is a speculative transhumanist project exploring the body’s potential for emotional well-being through its intersection with technology. Using augmented reality tools, it aims to “recalibrate” perceptions of pleasure, the body, and identity.
Developed as a hybrid practice between the physical body and digital extensions, the project creates ever-shifting identities, challenging standardized norms around the body and its modes of performance.
Extending into online spaces as a spontaneous global performance, the work opens discussions on the role of technology in shaping human experience.

Throwback – Babylonian Vision
Ekspozitë në kuadër të temës Techne

Në Babylonian Vision, Nora Al-Badri eksploron arkeologjinë spekulative dhe praktikat dekoloniale përmes inteligjencës artificiale, duke krijuar një formë të re “technoheritage”.
Duke përdorur rrjete neurale të trajnuara me mijëra imazhe të artefakteve mesopotamike nga koleksione muzeale, ajo gjeneron imazhe sintetike që funksionojnë si një kujtesë e re, e gjallë. Këto imazhe nuk janë thjesht përfaqësime — ato bëhen vetë artefakte, duke riformësuar mënyrën si e kuptojmë të kaluarën.
Punimi ngre pyetje mbi pronësinë kulturore, kujtesën kolektive dhe rolin e teknologjisë në rindërtimin e historisë vizuale.

In Babylonian Vision, Nora Al-Badri explores speculative archaeology and decolonial practices through artificial intelligence, creating a new form of “technoheritage.”
Using neural networks trained on thousands of images of Mesopotamian artefacts from museum collections, she generates synthetic images that function as a new, living memory. These images are not merely representations — they become artefacts themselves, reshaping how we understand the past.
The work raises questions about cultural ownership, collective memory, and the role of technology in reconstructing visual history.

Ekspozitë në kuadër të temës Skanimi i Rajonit

E kuruar nga Tevž Logar, kjo ekspozitë eksplooi mënyrën se si perceptimi formëson dokumentimin dhe si imagjinata mund të rimodelojë realitetin që na rrethon.
Duke u fokusuar te peizazhi si pikënisje, ekspozita trajtoi marrëdhënien mes kujtesës, identitetit dhe hapësirës — nga përvojat e migrimit dhe zhvendosjes, te narrativat personale dhe lidhja emocionale me vendin dhe natyrën.
Përmes praktikave të tyre, Jošt Franko, Blerta Hashani dhe Mila Panić hapën një dialog mbi atë që shohim, çfarë zgjedhim të ruajmë dhe si e kuptojmë botën përreth nesh. Nga dokumentimi i rrugëve të refugjatëve, te reflektimet intime mbi shtëpinë, kujtesën dhe përkatësinë, veprat e tyre na ftuan të rishikojmë raportin tonë me realitetin.

Curated by Tevž Logar, this exhibition explored how perception shapes documentation and how imagination can reshape the reality around us.
Focusing on landscape as a point of departure, the exhibition examined the relationship between memory, identity, and space — from experiences of migration and displacement to personal narratives and our emotional connection to place and nature.
Through their practices, Jošt Franko, Blerta Hashani, and Mila Panić opened a dialogue on what we see, what we choose to preserve, and how we understand the world around us. From documenting refugee routes to intimate reflections on home, memory, and belonging, their works invited us to reconsider our relationship with reality.

In a time of post-truth politics and manipulative media, the exhibition explored how information, reality, and truth are constructed, filtered, and experienced within society. Through installations, video works, and transdisciplinary practices, the artists addressed themes of power, history, communication, and the ways we choose what to see — and what to believe.

Throwback – Ekspozita PËRPARA
Ekspozitë në kuadër të temës Skanimi i Rajonit

PËRPARA ishte ekspozita e dytë në kuadër të temës “Skanimi i Rajonit”, e hapur në vitin 2023. Një moment reflektimi mbi mënyrën si e perceptonim kohën, hapësirën dhe realitetin përreth nesh.
Në qendër qëndronte paqartësia intriguese e fjalës përpara në kulturën tonë: ajo që në kuptimin hapësinor është para nesh, në kuptimin kohor shpesh i referohej së kaluarës, pra, diçkaje “pas” nesh. E kaluara paraqitej si e dukshme dhe e njohur, ndërsa e ardhmja si e padukshme dhe e panjohur. Megjithatë, për ta imagjinuar të ardhmen, ne i referoheshim kujtesës, pothuajse si një nostalgji për atë që ende nuk kishte ndodhur.

Ajo na ftoi t’i vendosnim të dyja “Përparat” para vetes — të kaluarën dhe të ardhmen — për t’i krahasuar, kuptuar dhe rikonfiguruar në marrëdhënie të reja.

Throwback – Exhibition PËRPARA
Exhibition as part of the theme Scanning the Region

PËRPARA was the second exhibition within the framework of the theme “Scanning the Region,” opened in 2023 — a moment of reflection on how we perceived time, space, and the reality surrounding us.
At its core was the intriguing ambiguity of the word përpara in our culture: in a spatial sense, it refers to what lies in front of us, while in a temporal sense, it often refers to the past — something “behind” us. The past appeared visible and known, whereas the future seemed invisible and unknown. Yet, in order to imagine the future, we relied on memory — almost like a form of nostalgia for something that had not yet happened.

The exhibition invited us to place both “Përparas” in front of ourselves — the past and the future — to compare them, understand them, and reconfigure them into new relationships.
