Between Water & Land (April 30 - May 3) has concluded with 5 days of immersing ourselves in water contact improvisation at the studio and Hon Chong beach in Nha Trang.
This is a new branch for water art sports in general and contact improvisation in particular.
The gentle softness of water combined with physical movement helps practitioners become like playful otters gliding and soaring underwater.
In the final session, one student shared (summarized):
"
I don't know why I felt moved when looking at the water in the bottle. I feel life is so miraculous and I've been disconnected from it for so long. I could feel the ocean's love supporting me each time I practiced these past days."
The organizers as well as teacher Ivan Gurianov (the main instructor) were delighted to witness students rediscovering their love for dance and setting aside fears such as:
- Body insecurity
- Feeling like their dancing isn't beautiful
- Lack of confidence in gracefulness
- Worry about not doing techniques correctly
Technical exercises with a physics foundation serve as a solid anchor point to liberate the body and understand how to move together in both scientific and artistic ways.
Besides learning to stretch and expand body-mind, everyone also experienced carefully selected local cuisine at affordable prices under the guidance of Lam - a local guide in Nha Trang.
Lâm not only provides food tours but also offers high-quality water contact experiences, as he is a long-time practitioner of the discipline.
