I never wanted to be a teacher.
Necessity did. New York City, the 90s — rent due, a theater BA half-finished. It walked me straight to the doors of Harlem, into a theater TA job I took because I had to. That’s where it got clear, all at once. I never looked back.
Over 30-plus years — Trinidad, the US, the Middle East, Africa, China, and now here in the far reaches of Asia — I’ve watched catharsis rearrange young minds over and over, in classrooms that looked nothing alike and shared everything in common. A monologue that cracks someone open. An ensemble built out of strangers who had no choice but to trust each other. Different languages, different stages, the exact same truth: nothing does for youth development what theater does. I know it sticks because the messages never stop — former students, grown now, on every one of those continents, telling me a moment on a small stage quietly changed how they carry themselves through life.
Imaginarium exists because someone took a bigger risk than I did. A Vietnamese mother I met while mentoring her children turned belief into an organization — so teachers like me could volunteer and bring this work to the youth of Vietnam.
The career I never wanted is the only one I’ve ever truly had.

Imaginarium’s resident artist, director Rob Hall, is living and working at the Imaginarium Creative Hub as he leads Macbeth’s Ghosts, an original trilogy that invites audiences to experience Shakespeare through performance, imagination, and international theatre practice. ✨
With over four decades in professional and academic theatre, Rob has worked as an actor, director, and stage combat choreographer, helped build theatre departments and companies, and spent 20 years as an educator inspiring students in both artistic and academic settings. This production brings that wealth of global experience into one immersive creative journey. 🌍🗡️
