S21 Prison Today I visited the S21 Prison (Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum) in Phnom Penh. The site was a former secondary school and was used as a security prison by the Khmer Rouge regime from 1975 to 1979. Nearly every part of the museum hasn't been changed since it was found after the regime fell. The Khmer Rouge converted the classrooms into jail cells, torture rooms and places of mass ex*****on. Slow bus journey Today was one hell of a day. I checked out of my accommodation in Battambang and waited around in the lobby to be picked up. I had booked a mini-van to Phnom Penh and was told the journey takes around 6-7 hours. The van was meant to pick me up at 7:40am but like everything in Asia, no one was in a rush. [ 546 more words ]
