This is the “FISHERMAN KING” prosthetic makeup and body suit I sculpted on for . This was for James Wan’s creepypuppet blockbuster film, “AQUAMAN” (2018). Their was beautiful concept art to start with created by the uber-talented Howard Swindell .swindell , which this character is based on. I added a few design elements of my own along the way. I truly loved the feel of this characters entire design, and it was a real pleasure working on it! *(See previous post).
I sculpted the entire facial prosthetic makeup. The body suit was done by myself and the talented Todd Rex.
The first image is the on-set makeup with the actual practical gills composited in just to see them on him. During production shooting, the gills were not added to the Fisherman King, his Queen, or the Princess and were added in post production with CG, as were their fish-like tails. The On-Set application was done by the extremely talented team of Kelly Golden and Bradley Greenwood . This, as well as a multitude of characters, creatures, and specialty costumes, were created at FRACTURED FX INC, under the amazing direction and creative supervision of it’s founder, JUSTIN RALEIGH . This was an amazing team effort, encompassing the efforts of a multitude of fellow craftsmen and artisans. My congratulations to the entire team, Mold Shop, Casting Department, Paint Department, Seaming Department, Specialty Costumes, Photography Department, an army of Support Artists, Craftspersons, and of course Coordinators. Highlighting the best of the best, Mike Ezell, for all of their amazing work bringing many other characters to life on this project!
Special thanks to .raleigh for bringing me aboard, as this was my very first time working for him, and he is an amazing boss and friend.
(Pardon all the photos, but I realised I haven't really shared much on this character since the films release.)
