Updates: Staging… also made a business expense. I’ve been wanting track lights in the studio to aim directly at the art so I can take better pictures for quite some time. Now that I have my own house, I can do that. I only had two lightbulbs left though, so I ordered some more. I’m excited to get more light in here, as that will help me spend more time here as well to create. Something about not being able to see the colors as they’re intended really messes with me. So, new art soon come then.
My hung painting needs to be adjusted, as it should be sitting parallel to the couch, and not so high, but it’ll do for now. 🤷🏾♂️
I don’t paint all the time because I have other talents/creative solutions to express myself. That’s always how it’s been since I was a child. Nor do I need to fall trap to capitalism and social media’s pressures of “posting everyday and feeding the algorithm in order to ‘make it’.” When you do more than one thing creatively, that’s just how it is (I do what I want) and you can’t box me in just because you want to. If you’re curious about other things I do, like music and piano, my YouTube link is in my bio. Otherwise, you can’t rush greatness. I’m almost 33. I’ve been doing this since I was 3. That’s three DECADES. I definitely don’t have anything to prove to anyone except to myself when it comes to how much art (or music) I output.
All emotions are part of the journey as well, so if you need to take a break for rest in your art journey, that will help build character and elevate your results. Rest is important. Don’t let these internet crazed folks make you believe it’s not important, or that it is not needed and necessary as an artist, as a person, and as a human being.
What good are you to yourself if you’re exhausted? Take that damn break. Taking breaks doesn’t make you any less of an artist. Nor does there need to be this unnecessary competition between artists.
I seen an artist equate “not posting” with “artists giving up and not sticking it out as long as him,” to which I say on the behalf of everyone else: shut yo dumb ass up and worry about yourself.
