Donald Schnell Studio Fine Handmade pottery & art glass from St. John and the world! The Donald Schnell Studio on St. The Studio's creations capture the feel of the islands. St.

John creates a variety of exciting, handcrafted ceramics, from water fountains, lights, signs, planters and vases to musical windchimes and dinnerware. Coral sand and melted glass reproduce the vibrant colors of the rocks and water of the Caribbean. From raw clay blended with Virgin Islands coral sand each individual item is created by hand or with the potter's wheel. Each piece is allowed to dry

then fired to 1600 degrees. After the first firing each piece is then hand buffed, stained and glazed before re-firing to 2300 degrees. This produces the final, extremely hard ceramic and exciting glazes Schnell Studio is known for. Of course no lead is ever used in Schnell pottery. To complement his original creations, Donald Schnell has carefully selected a limited number of hand-blown glass, stained glass and ceramic pieces from other artists of the islands and the world. John moves to a slower tempo so when visiting the Studio please take your time. Take time to look, touch and enjoy - ask questions. We love to talk with you about St. John and our works of art.
