Ever spit water back out your nose by accident? Did you know sea turtles do that... on purpose? That's right! Sea turtles have a lot of cool adaptations, but one of our favorites is their ability to push water back out their nose. They do this to prevent ingesting saltwater while munching away on their favorite snacks like sea grass, or for Chelonia here, romaine lettuce!

Let's chat about dolphin tongues! Can you roll your tongue to create a straw? Many humans can, as it is genetic! But did you know that dolphins have specialized tongues? The frills on either side come together to form a zipper like structure while they roll the tongue, this is to create a watertight seal for calves to nurse from mom.

Ever wonder what our Red-Footed Tortoises eat?

This species of tortoise, found in South America and the Caribbean, are opportunistic hunters! This means they will eat almost anything they can! You can find them grazing on plant matter such as leaves and grass, or hunting small critters like snails, worms, and slow moving insects.

While in professional care, this species gets a variety of restaurant-grade vegetables, fruits, and special dietary pellet for extra vitamins and nutrients. Our tortoises eat a variety of produce from romaine and green leaf lettuce, to kale, tomatoes, cucumbers, and apples! Sometimes we give them boiled eggs for extra protein and a special treat!

Do you enjoy salad like our tortoises do?

When was the last time you gave a dolphin a belly rub?? We often get asked if dolphin's enjoy belly rubs, although every dolphin is an individual and therefore has individual preferences, this dolphin in particular is known for leaving her trainer because she knows that she can easily get those back and belly rubs from guests! Come visit us soon to meet some dolphin friends 🐬

Our marine mammals don’t just get fed—they get a carefully crafted diet designed to keep them healthy and thriving! 🩵

Every bucket is thoughtfully prepared with a variety of high-quality, restaurant-grade fish to provide the nutrients they need, and we also make jello for an extra boost of hydration and enrichment.

Nutrition is one of the most important parts of animal care, and every meal is tailored to support their health, natural behaviors, and overall well-being.

Behind every feeding is a dedicated team making sure each sea lion gets exactly what it needs—one bucket at a time. 🐟✨
