INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY now and Forever 🪶 It’s no secret the Columbus Day is not a day that should be celebrated, but for some reason, here we are in 2025 and a person who caused such an atrocity is still being celebrated. For us, we only recognize our ancestors and what the have given for us to be here.

I am the proud son of the current Kasike of the Guainia Taino Tribe of the US Virgin Islands, my mother Maekiaphan. What an honor it is to have be reconnected with my heritage through the decades worth of work done by my mother with the help and guidance of .borrero the Kasike of the Guainia Taino Tribe of Boriken. The quiet diligent work that is happening will become the foundation for the next generation of Taino People. Hahom! Thank You!

I have been trying to write this since the year started and even tho I still don't feel like I have the words, I can't procrastinate any longer. Just know that this decision hasn't come lightly: For the 2024 Year, Efex Photography will be CLOSED. I've decided to take a step back and use this time to not only refocus, but to continue practicing filmmaking. I am currently unsure about the exact reopening date, as this year will shape the future direction of my business and myself.

The photographer in me is crying right now, but I know this is necessary for growth. However, to appease that part of myself, I will leave my email open for special project requests only: [email protected]

If you've done a shoot with me in the past 30 days, your galleries will still be available until February 1st before they expire. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to me.

Here's to making sacrifices in the pursuit of finding our purpose.
