St. Thomas, come through!
This month’s spoken word open mic theme is One True Sentence!
Join us for an evening centered around poetry, truth-telling, storytelling, and the powerful things that happen when people choose honesty.
Bring your poems. Bring your journal entries. Bring the story you almost didn’t tell. Or just come sit in community and listen. Just real words and real people.

Thursday, May 21

St. Thomas—this one is for the artists, the writers, the thinkers, the poets, the curious, come join us!
What happens when we really sit with art?
This Sunday, we’re creating space to slow down, look again, and respond.
Join us for an Ekphrastic Writing Workshop inside Lucien Downs’ exhibition—where Virgin Islands art becomes poetry, story, and reflection.
You don’t need to be a writer. You don’t need to share. Just come, observe, and let the art speak to you.

St. Thomas, this one is gentle. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and we are partnering with the Family Resource Center to support our survivors, their families and this community.

We’re creating a space for survivors to just… breathe.
To write if you want.
To sit quietly if you don’t.

No pressure. No expectations. Just a room where you can come as you are and be held in community.

Write to Breathe is a softly guided writing & art experience facilitated by Angela Vaughn-Likewise, created for survivors of sexual assault and domestic abuse.

Whether you’ve been carrying something for a long time, or you’re just looking for a space that feels safe—you are welcome here.

Thursday, April 9th
6:00–8:00 PM
Mystic Brew Coffeehouse

St. Thomas, come step outside with us…
We’re taking it to nature for something a little different — a Hike & Write experience designed to slow you down, open you up, and let the island inspire you.
On Saturday, March 28, we’ll meet at 8:45 AM at Red Hook Ferry Dock so we can catch the 9:00 AM ferry to St. John. From there, we’ll head to Francis Bay Trail & Beach, an easy, mostly flat loop where we’ll pause, reflect, and write together in one of the most beautiful spaces in the VI.
It’s about being present and letting nature speak.
And giving yourself space to listen.
Facilitated by Jahfiyah Gumbs, twice-published VI poet, who will gently guide us through reflection and writing along the way.
Plan:
• Meet 8:45 AM (don’t miss the ferry!)
• Hike, pause, write, connect
• Return on the 2:00 PM ferry
Bring:
• Comfortable shoes (we are hiking!)
• Water + snacks/lunch
• Notebook + pen
Most importantly… bring you and your curiosity!
Please RSVP using the link to secure your place. Let’s go where the inspiration lives.
