Reichhold Center

Reichhold Center Reichhold Center for the Arts is the premiere performance venue located on St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. The theater hosts a full season of performances.

The Center is currently offline as it rebuilds from the hurricanes of 2017. The Reichhold Center for the Arts is nestled within the lap of a natural valley whose mouth opens to the crystal blue waters of John Brewer's bay on the island of St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands. This unique amphitheater of wood, limestone, copper, steel and concrete plays host to a wide range of concerts and perf

ormances, from Ray Charles to the Moscow Ballet, catering to our mission of enriching the cultural and social life of the people of the Virgin Islands. The facility is constructed in two levels. The upper level consists of a proscenium stage, orchestra pit, two star dressing rooms, and ample backstage working space and storage areas. At the lower level you can find the chorus dressing rooms, rehearsal spaces, an art gallery, and inherited African Art display, Digital Media Institute, storage rooms, and the offices of the permanent professional staff of the Center and their supporting personnel. The theater has 1196 seats in both the covered and open-aired sections. The lower area has 356 upholstered seats and is protected by a high-wing canopy roof which also accommodates sound and lighting equipment and acoustical clouds. The upper seating area has 840 seating places on newly constructed wooden contour benches in three sections, separated by dividers of natural stone and boulders and planted with low flowering shrubs. Rain protection during performances is provided by large shelters behind the upper seating areas and on a broad promenade between the upper and lower seating areas.

Theater is back! Brave World Theater VI, The Forum, and Reichhold Center are bringing a Virgin Islands focused adaptation of Shakepeare’s beloved Tempest to St. Thomas, in partnership with ElevateWi and Antilles School. If you love dance, song, drumming, puppetry, and celebration, Brave World VI has you covered with a community production that will highlight local culture, music, and artists to be presented on St. Thomas, February 2027. Auditions will be held at the UVI Sports Center on Sunday April 26th, 10am - 1pm or 6pm - 9pm. This community-based theater production is especially seeking ancestral Virgin Islanders and Afro Caribbean folks of all ages -- from old to young. If you sing, bring in a 1 minute song. If you dance, bring in a 1 minute dance. If you play an instrument, we’d love to hear that too! If you want, please memorize 6-8 lines from your favorite poem or pop song. If you can’t make it to the auditions, or have questions, please email Julie Baber at [email protected]. Looking to support our mission? We want to give a special shoutout and heartfelt thanks to the incredible students from the Production and Theater classes of Ivanna Eudora Kean High School, and their dedicated teachers, Gerda Morales and Anthony Nibbs!

Your hard work, creativity, and professionalism in assisting the Reichhold Center with staging for our upcoming RCA Sessions on the Floor did not go unnoticed. You’ve played an important role in bringing this production to life, and we truly appreciate your contribution.

We look forward to an amazing event this Saturday, March 21st at the Elridge W. Blake Sports & Fitness Center at UVI, featuring the Jairay Petty Big Band. Thank you for helping make it all happen!
