Xippas Geneva is pleased to present Parallaxe, Carolina Fontana’s first solo exhibition in Geneva.

When Carolina Fontana was invited to present a solo exhibition this spring at the Xippas gallery in Geneva, the artist decided to travel through the cantons of Geneva, Bern, and Luzern.

This seemingly anecdotal detail reveals a processual dimension that her paintings do not immediately make explicit.

The canvases that Carolina Fontana has created in recent years, in the series entitled Z·E·N, are the result of a contemplative experience of the landscape. These works possess a poetic dimension that arises from the process itself; they are intimately connected to a method embodied in the artist’s travels across Switzerland and, previously, in certain cities in Spain and China.

Yves Zurstrassen - Red Variations
Curated by

The Salagon Museum in the Provence region in Southern France dedicates a personal exhibition to Yves Zurstrassen, featuring his previously unseen paintings, presented in the Romanesque church.
Created specifically for this occasion, the works were conceived in close dialogue with the church’s architecture and with the stained-glass windows designed by Aurélie Nemours in 1998.
After spending a long time absorbing the atmosphere of the site, the artist chose to work with vertical forms and rhythms that set color in motion across his paintings. As a master colorist, he developed a red of singular tonality that embodies a personal response—at once a sidestep, a moment of rupture and dialogue, and even a tribute to the radical nature of the stained glass.

For the second time, Rita Fischer presents her works at Xippas Paris, with a variety of supports and materials: egg tempera on canvas or wooden panels, as well as watercolor on paper.

This exhibition features a new series of vertically formatted works. Although the artist continues to create horizontal pieces, in recent years she has been experimenting with this new format, which further intensifies the visual ambiguity conveyed by her paintings and their possible relationship to the tradition of landscape painting.

Leandro Erlich’s artworks are taking over the Grand Palais for his first major solo exhibition in Paris.

Following exhibitions in Buenos Aires, Tokyo, Miami, Milan and Helsinki, France is presenting, for the first time in Paris, a comprehensive retrospective – featuring new works – dedicated to one of the most distinctive and influential artists on the contemporary scene.

The exhibition invites visitors to step beyond the threshold of the ordinary and enter a world where everyday architecture—houses, elevators, staircases, and urban façades—becomes the stage for a subtle yet powerful transformation, where illusion is not deception, but a source of knowledge, and the viewer is engaged with the artwork, becoming an active participant, encouraged not only to observe, but to question their own senses and certainties.

How can one express feminist and social commitment through painting? How can one respond to everyday life while remaining so deeply rooted in art history and in dialogue with the masters of the past? These are the questions Chechu Álava poses, without imposing answers, in her second solo exhibition at Xippas Gallery in Paris.

Other works, smaller in scale or in a vertical, phone-like format, reflect the artist’s presence in relation to the world and to social media. Questioning the jarring proximity between makeup tutorials and images of children mutilated by various conflicts, she has seized upon this tragic reality and the time-consuming trivialities that sadly inhabit our daily lives. Through gracefully graduated tones, sometimes highlighted with gold or an almost fluorescent color, and her subtly blurred brushwork, she removes immediate narrative, making the original medium almost disappear.

Olaf Holzapfel participates in the group exhibition « Productive Unrest » with the site specific work The Space that never existed ( pictured here).

Productive Unrest
Art, Audience, and Alternative Culture Amid the Tensions of the 9th and 10th Art Exhibitions of the GDR in the 1980s

21.05.26 → 26.07.26
Opening: Wednesday May 20, 2026, starting at 6 p.m.

The exhibition at the Robotron Canteen examines the IX and X Kunstausstellung as the largest and most widely attended survey exhibitions of the GDR, alongside the alternative culture of the 1980s as a resonance space for social change.

Drawing on the historical collections of the ifa – ifa – Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations, the exhibition brings together over 40 artists, opening up a dialogue between generations and offering insights into the unique relationship between art and the public.

Olaf Hotzapfel’s work "The Space that never existed" consists of a vaulted clay architecture developed in several stages—arising from the forms of generative spaces, while simultaneously telling the story of the timeless craft traditions of clay construction. The object, which is as much sculpture as it is architecture, unites apparent contradictions within itself: the curved forms of high-tech architecture, realized using a wood and clay technology that is almost as old as humanity itself.
