Off-Main Street Players

Off-Main Street Players Off-Main Street Players is Zionsville's Community Theatre The group’s first show, Bell, Book and Candle premiered on September 9, 1966.

More than 40 years ago, a group of Zionsville citizens formed the Off-Main Street Players, a community theatre group dedicated to presenting high-quality productions that featured local talent. Five years ago, a new generation of Zionsville and Boone County residents has re-formed The Off-Main Street Players with the goal of offering local actors, directors, and others with an interes

t in theatre the opportunity to use their talents to entertain and educate others. The new Off-Main Street Players’ first production—Neil Simon’s Plaza Suite—premiered on September 9, 2005, 39 years to the day after the original group’s premiere production. Today’s Off-Main Street Players are unique in that the group focuses on encouraging theatre as an avocation rather than a vocation. Rehearsal schedules are designed with the needs of parents, students and busy professionals in mind. Auditions and performances are promoted locally, to encourage those in Zionsville, Lebanon and surrounding areas to participate and attend. Also check out the OMSP page for updates on shows and how to become involved in the theatre. OUR MISSION
The mission of the Off-Main Street Players is:
To enable citizens of all ages in Zionsville and surrounding areas to develop and showcase their abilities by using local talent to the greatest possible extent; to be recognized as an essential part of the local cultural community by producing shows that aim for the highest levels of technical and artistic achievement; and to engage a wide variety of community members by producing at least one family-friendly production each season. By diligently working to achieve this mission, we hope to provide new cultural opportunities and maximum value to our community, cast and crew members, and supporters.

As the Off-Main Street Players figure out our future, the Board of Directors paused to take this photo while clearing out some of the props and scenery from the theater's home for the last 12 years. We are not sure what the future will look like with the transition to a new town hall, (and the demolition of our current stage), but we will keep you posted. One thing is certain: it has been a joy and privilege to be Zionsville's community theater since 2005. Thank you for your love and support over the years.

To Our Off-Main Street Players Volunteers, Fans, and Family:

We have received many questions about the state of OMSP and whether or not we plan on producing any shows in the future. We wanted to provide you with a brief update.

First, we have not disbanded. We are still an active group and the board has met several times since the last show closed to discuss our future. Unfortunately, work commitments, family commitments, and space issues have prevented us from producing any shows since June 2015.

As many of you know, Zionsville is in the process of building a new Town Hall. The current Town Hall, which has been our home since 2005, will be torn down once the new building’s construction is complete. We are currently working with representatives from Zionsville to see if there is a way for us to continue producing shows in their new location. They believe, as we do, that Zionsville should have a thriving community theatre company, so we’re hopeful that we’ll be able to work something out.

While there are no shows on our schedule at this time, please keep checking our page and our website for updates. We promise that we won’t be as silent as we’ve been and will keep you posted on any news about our future as soon as we have it.

Take care and we’ll see you at the theatre!
