Today we recognize Juneteenth, a day honoring freedom, resilience, and the enduring contributions of Black Americans throughout our nation's history.

As folks who spend a lot of time tending smokers and serving barbecue, it's important to recognize that many of the barbecue traditions we know and love today were shaped by generations of Black pitmasters, cooks, and communities whose influence is woven into the story of American food.

American barbecue has deep roots in Black history and Black culinary excellence. We're grateful for the opportunity to learn from that history, share it, and gather around the table together.

The local kids are officially out for summer, the days are staying light a little longer, and this weekend brings the summer solstice. 𝙁𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙨 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙞𝙨 𝙨𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙞𝙩𝙨 𝙛𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙣.

We’ve gotta say, it feels pretty darn good to be outside again.

Yesterday was everything we’ve been waiting for: cold drinks on the patio, live music under the trees, afternoon hangs with the best folks transitioning into one of those perfect mountain evenings under the stars.

And the best part?
There’s more where that came from!

The sun is shining, the outdoor bar is open, and whether you’re wrapping up a weekend adventure, coming back from the river, or just looking for a good excuse not to cook, we’ve got lunch, dinner, and cold drinks waiting.

Outer Orbit brings together an all-star lineup of Portland musicians led by Galen Clark and vocalist Sarah Clarke. Deep-pocket funk, soulful vocals, and serious musicianship all come together in a show that’s impossible not to move to.

Rain’s in the forecast, the temperature’s dropped a bit, and honestly this feels like exactly the kind of night Skyway was made for. Plus we’ve got one of our favorite bands hitting the Skyway stage tonight for some blues, bluegrass, country, zydeco, and a whole lot of personality.
