Our inaugural No Jive After Five: A Jazz Series event is excited to bring you a night of straight-ahead jazz, performed by saxophonist Eric Dawson.

Born and raised in Kinston, North Carolina, Eric Dawson is a graduate of Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) and North Carolina Central University (NCCU). He has performed alongside legendary musicians such as Branford Marsalis, John Faddis, and Fred Wesley, who once compared him to the great Earl Bostic, and has been featured at the National Folk Festival in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Beyond his performance career, Eric has been a formidable force in North Carolina’s arts scene through leadership and collaboration in various organizations. He has collaborated with esteemed partners, including the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park, African American Music Trail, NC Arts Council, and Wilson Arts Center, to produce a two-day festival known as The Jazz Revival Project. His expertise also earned him a spot on a panel alongside Grammy-nominated artist Dom Flemons.
