The Qwazy Quilter

The Qwazy Quilter For all things quilted. Custom, traditional, memory and tee shirt quilts. Long arm quilting services. I work out of my home. Hours are by appointment only.

I do not have a shop or sell fabric, except for a yearly fabric yard sale. I never really thought of myself as an artist. Webster’s Dictionary defines art as “any craft requiring skill or creative work”. Quilting, and working with fabrics in a way that pleases, is certainly something that requires skill and is creative, so I guess I am an artist- a fabric artist. As the Qwazy Quilter, I will provi

de quilts and quilted products that will enrich a person's life through memory preservation and home decor. I promise to offer unique, inspirational, high quality and long-lasting products, constructed in a way consistent with quilt industry standards and affordable for all to enjoy. Mostly I want my items to be loved and used by those who purchase them. I started sewing when I was in the 7th grade, making most of my clothes through high school. I even designed a few of my own creations! College saw a break from sewing. I majored in Wildlife Science at Rutgers University in NJ and worked for parks and recreation for nearly 20 years. But when I had children and was working full-time, sewing became my evening relaxation. I started quilting in the 80’s, making some decent items. But it wasn’t until I moved to Zebulon from NJ in 2005 that I learned what quilting was really about. I’ve taken classes and joined a local sewing bee and the Capital Quilters’ Guild. Unable to find a job outside my home since moving here, I’d decided to try quilting and sewing as my occupation. I like to make quilts that will be put to use. I love working with the fabrics, colors and patterns. I have far too many fabrics and ideas for projects in my closets, but one day, I will do them all!! My goal is to have my own website. My hope is to teach new quilters techniques that will make their entry into the quilting world smoother and less frustrating. I also quilt finished tops, make customized quilts and tee-shirt quilts and do clothing alterations.

This is so true! Using 108" backing on your quilt? Allow extra yardage.
Let me assure you, it doesn't matter what company made the fabric, or what shop you bought the fabric in. The fact is, it is nearly impossible to cut a 108" wide back straight on grain. When a bolt of 108" wide back arrives in my shop, the first thing I do is clip and rip it straight on grain. When I measure each piece, I measure then rip, making sure that the fabric stays on grain. If you are bringing your own, and you bought from a shop that doesn't rip, please bring an extra 1/4 yard minimum so I can straighten your piece. Quilts turn out so much nicer when the back is straight of grain. Crooked backs can pull the finished quilt out of square as they are used and washed.

I am very sorry to the lady who tried to find my shop. I don't have a quilt shop. I work out of my home and do not sell fabric, except on a once a year fabric yard sale. I do long' arm quilting and tee shirt, memory and custom quilts. In 12 years I've never had this happen and I am quite sorry that I was not at home this AM to meet you. I will check my page to be sure it says by appointment only. Again. I am sorry for the inconvenience.

This my latest tee shirt quilt, made for a person who worked for the National Park System for many years. My personal touch is the pine tree I made to fill in some empty space. What can I design for you?
