Meet the official greeter of Follow Your Art Studio!

This surreal octopus waits at the top of the stairs to welcome my students—and there’s something to notice from every angle. I am a versatile artist who works in many mediums and sculpture is one of my top favorite ways to create. I used air dry foam clay to keep this mysterious creature lightweight and durable enough be secured onto the banister of my art studio. I love the way he perfectly molds and clings to the wall as he trails down wrapping tightly around the rails.

Drop in and create with us this September!

Students will design and carve their own Pop Art-inspired image, then use black ink and colorful paper to create a series of bold prints. This one-hour project is a fun introduction to printmaking, with plenty of room for each artist to create something completely their own.

A little peek at what we’ve been doing in Young at Art 🎨

We read Vincent Can’t Sleep while starting our Vincent van Gogh–inspired polymer clay project, and I noticed Nymeria’s beautiful flower looked so much like the ones in the story.

Moments like that are one of my favorite parts of teaching. I love seeing students connect with what we’re learning and then make it their own.

That’s a big part of what Follow Your Art is all about—learning, creating, and growing confidence in their own artistic voice.

One of the things I care about most as an art teacher is helping students grow confidence in themselves through their art.

At Follow Your Art Studio, I teach fundamentals, technique, and art history—but I also want students to explore what they like and create in a way that feels true to them.

I never want every project to look the same.

I want students to learn from great artists, build real skills, experiment, and slowly discover their own artistic voice.

That’s a big part of what Follow Your Art means to me.

Learn from the masters. Then follow your art.

Come be inspired by great artists and created your own unique work of art!

August’s Fine Art for Fun theme is Rebels, Rule Breakers & Reinventors. It is celebration of artists who changed the rules and made art on their own terms.

This month’s project spotlight features:
Polymer Clay Impressionist Project inspired by Vincent Van Gogh and My Own Casa Azul models inspired by Frida Kahlo

Both projects are open-ended, imaginative, and designed to help young artists explore color, texture, symbolism, and personal expression in a way that feels uniquely their own.

At Follow Your Art, inspiration starts with remarkable artists—but the finished artwork belongs entirely to the student.
