Last night was our most successful movie night to date! 🍿

Tremors was a fun and silly movie to watch under the desert sky. We collectively laughed, cheered, and clapped our way though this delightfully campy film. It was also cool to see so many Joshua Trees on the screen.

We want to thank everyone that attended - your ticket purchase will help us fund more community events that bring accessible live music to this little corner of the world. Another shout out to the Avalon Medical Center in Yucca Valley for sponsoring the licensing fee for the screening.

We are thinking of hosting another movie night in October, and our comments are OPEN for recommendations! Drop your suggestions below. đŸ‘‡đŸœ

What is community?

Is it the warm embrace of a friendly face you haven’t seen in a while?

Is it the people gathered in front of the stage, bopping their heads to the music and waving their arms in the air?

Is it the children running across the dirt floor, while a lively jazz violin picks up the temple on stage?

Is it making a new friend because both your dogs wagged their tails at each other from across the way?

Is it delicious smells from the local food vendors, who feed us with their culinary delights when we forget or don’t want to pack a picnic?

Is it a place where everyone feels included, seen, and a part of something bigger?

Is it singing or dancing your heart out to a tune you love and know, fully in sync with the person next to you who is singing as well?

Is it standing on stage and sharing your gift of music to a group of people who are anxiously waiting to hear your melodies?

Community = love. A love of music, of nature, of art, and of each other.

We hope you experience all of this at Mon Petit Mojave

Did you know
back in the day, people used to honk their horns and flash their lights as a way to share their applause?

This video was taken in 2020 when we were all still navigating what a pandemic meant and so everyone stayed in or on their car. Nowadays, you can bring your chairs and blanket at closer to the stage - but the artists love when people honk and flash their lights so don’t hesitate to do so!

And please join us on Saturday, September 5th as Chris Cerna and the Bluegrass Republic return to the MPM stage!

Expect driving rhythms, tight harmonies, and that classic bluegrass energy that makes you want to tap your feet.

Bring your friends, bring a blanket, honk your horn and spend the long weekend with live music under the desert sky.

Ain’t no rest for the Mon Petit Mojave board of directors

In the midst of our peak show and event season, the majority of the board was able to come together for a mini-retreat to strengthen our relationships, gain clarity in mission and vision, and identify strategic priorities as Mon Petit Mojave continues to grow.

We were fortunate to have the guidance of Kelly Cole, a local JT resident specializing in leadership, coaching, curriculum development, group facilitation, and culture design/strategic planning. She can be reached at [email protected]

We have so many great ideas, hopes, and dreams for MPM and the ways we can show up for community with live music, arts, and culture.

More updates to follow - for now we’ll see you at our upcoming shows this month!

Something is stirring beneath the desert
 đŸȘ±

Our summer Carpool Cinema Nights are back and the first one is on Saturday, August 22 at 8:00 p.m. with the cult-classic desert creature feature, Tremors!

The film screening is sponsored by Avalon Medical Center in Yucca Valley, home to Avalon Pharmacy and Avalon Urgent Care. We thank them for their generous support!

Join us under the stars as Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward battle enormous underground monsters in the fictional desert town of Perfection, Nevada. It’s funny, suspenseful, delightfully ridiculous, and practically made to be watched outdoors in the Mojave Desert—though we recommend staying alert for any unusual movement beneath your chair.

Bring your blankets and chairs or get cozy in your car. We will have a snack bar available with some classic film snacks, and you are also welcome to bring your own.

Tickets are $15 per person. The Carpool Cinema events are a way we raise funds for our free community concerts, so not only are you buying a ticket for a unique night under the stars, you are also supporting programming that uplifts our desert communities.

Date: Saturday, August 22
Time: Movie begins at 8:00 p.m., doors open at 7:15pm

New show announcement! ChloĂ© Perrier & the French Heart Jazz Band Chloé Perrier Green first appeared on the Mon Petit Mojave stage in 2021, dazzling us with their charming music and their glamorous attire set against our desert backdrop. We are thrilled to welcome them back on August 15 for another enchanting evening under the stars.

Led by French vocalist Chloé Perrier, this chic band performs French chansons and American jazz standards from the 1920s through the 1940s, blending jazz, chanson, Brazilian influences, and occasional Romany-tinged sounds in both French and English. For this show, she will have fellow French native Jeremiah Levi as a special guest!

Expect inventive interpretations, continental flair, and timeless favorites like “La Vie en Rose” brought to life under the desert sky.

Join us on Saturday August 15th, at 7:30PM!

If your favorite concert buddy happens to have four legs and a furry coat, you can definitely bring them to an MPM show. đŸŸ

Well-behaved pups are welcome to join you here, we simply ask that they remain leashed whenever they're away from your seating area or vehicle, and that you please clean up after them so everyone can enjoy the evening.

We love seeing our four-legged friends become part of our community! ♄
