Meet the players of Arsenic and Old Lace!

We’ve got two sweet little old ladies, one very stressed-out nephew, one man who thinks he’s Teddy Roosevelt, a homicidal brother, a questionable doctor, several cops, and an alarming number of bodies in the basement.

You know. Family stuff.

Arsenic and Old Lace opens September 18 and runs weekends through October 11 at The Acting Company.

🎸🎹 The countdown is on - Two by Two is THIS Saturday! Meet two more of the talented musicians bringing the music to life!

David Kamminga began participating in live theater in 2012, when he played guitar and composed the soundtrack for a steampunk-themed Shakespeare in the Park production of Measure for Measure. Since then, he has combined his love of music and theater, playing guitar for productions including The Acting Company’s The Last Five Years and YCHS's Mamma Mia! His first experience with TAC was A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 2016, where he composed the music and played mandolin/guitar as Note, A Puck. He also played guitar in TAC’s 2019 50s Rock and Roll fundraiser. More recently, he performed Next to Normal with Convergence Theatre Company and EMH Productions/Ooley Theatre. David is excited to be playing music for Two by Two!

Darren Shearer has played piano for 28 years and holds an ALCM (TD) diploma, with a background in classical and jazz. He previously performed with the Sacramento Swing Collective and appeared in the pit orchestra for The Merry Widow as a percussionist. Darren recently appeared onstage as Inspector Hubbard in Dial M for Murder and was the musical director for Cabaret.

🎹🥁 Less than ONE WEEK until Two by Two! Meet the musicians who will be providing the music and rhythm behind this exciting afternoon of unforgettable duets!

Steve Shephard is a lifelong musician who has accompanied countless Acting Company productions, including Matilda the Musical and The Pirates of Penzance. He’s excited to once again serve as musical director for a TAC production and is also happy to be the newly appointed Music Teacher with Maxwell Unified School District.

🎵 Favorite song: “All I Ask of You” from The Phantom of the Opera
🎤 Favorite teen duet: “Close to You” by The Carpenters

Rob Hilton performed in his first musical, Finian’s Rainbow, in 1984 and has been playing drums and percussion for shows, bands, and ensembles ever since. Locally, he performs with Yuba College Symphonic and Jazz Bands, 'Oh, the Humanity,' and The Achilles Trio. He also plays drums at Marysville First United Methodist Church. When he’s not making music, Rob enjoys the great outdoors and restoring his 1974 Nova, which he says is “fast, very fast.”

💃 Meet the featured dancers of Two by Two! Amanda Stentzel and Christian De la Torre will be bringing their talent, energy, and personality to the stage!

Amanda Stentzel is the owner of Rising Stars Dance Studio and is honored to partner with The Acting Company again. She got her first taste of Musical Theater as a senior in high school and fell in love. Musical Theater dance classes quickly became a favorite to teach at her studio. Amanda is grateful to her friends and staff who have helped at the studio so she could pursue her passion, her dance students who have pushed her out of her comfort zone, and especially her husband, who has shown endless support for the past 15 years. She gave a stellar performance as Miss Honey in TAC’s 2024 production of Matilda the Musical and looks forward to her upcoming role as Elaine in Arsenic and Old Lace.

Christian De la Torre is a Cal State Fullerton graduate in Devised and Physical Theatre. He made his Acting Company directorial debut earlier this year with a bold and unforgettable production of Cabaret. However, he is no stranger to this theater having played numerous roles over the years including Escapeologist in Matilda the Musical and The Pirate King in Pirates of Penzance. Next up: Tartuffe: The Hypocrite at Yuba Community College!

🎭 Meet the couple behind Two by Two! 🎶

Kelly Barber-Scott has been performing for nearly 40 years in opera, choir, plays, and musical theater, including stages throughout the Yuba-Sutter area, Bay Area, and Europe. She is a choir director at Riverbend and YCHS, and teaches piano at YCHS. Kelly is thrilled to contribute to this production and sing many songs near and dear to her heart. She is grateful to her friends and family who are encouraging and supportive of her passion for music, especially her beloved husband Sam!

🎭 Meet two more talented performers behind Two by Two! 🎶

Matt DeMeritt brings more than 20 years of experience as an actor, director, educator, and choreographer. He is Arts Director and Drama Teacher at Marysville Charter Academy for the Arts and founding Artistic Director of Convergence Theatre Company. He holds a BA in Theatre from San Diego State, an MA from San Jose State, and has continued his professional development through programs including the Broadway Teachers Workshop. Matt is passionate about using theatre to bring people together and is honored to be a part of this performance!

Sam Madrid is a 23-year-old theater teacher at Mains'l 7th St. Centre for the Arts. He loves singing, improvising, and apparently long walks across the stage! Sam has always loved many of the songs in this show and is thrilled that he finally has partners to sing them with. He is so happy to be a part of this event and cannot wait to see all the smiling faces in the audience. He especially thanks his mom, who practiced many of these songs with him during 10-hour drives to San Diego!
