These everyday drinking goblets are not only my favorite form to throw, but I think they’re my favorite design of 2026. These glazes play together so well!

It’s been a bit since I’ve made some grumpy turnips, but I think I need to bring them back this fall, along with some grumpy gourds maybe… what do you think? Are there any other inherently grumpy vegetables or fruit that you’d like to see? (Yes, I can sculpt non-grumpy veg. No, I have no desire to at this time. 😆)

This summer I’ve been drawn to all kinds of masks - which, if I’m being honest, I’ve carried a long distrust in. Maybe this is a sort of exposure therapy? Or just another way to explore my love of dark folklore? Whatever the source, the resulting masks have been a delight to construct. Today I am finishing up a hare - giving it its ears as a final act - and listening to the lovely The Scottish Folklore Podcast while I work. Do you have any folklore podcasts that you enjoy? Please share, if so!

Rabbit Stirrup Cup, 2026. Available.
I made a small series of stirrup cups, or Dochan Doris, this summer and they were such a fun way to combine forms. These foot-less cups were designed historically for drinks at parting times, handed to friends and companions when feet were in stirrups just before departure on a journey or hunt.

Rabbit, rabbit! Somehow we find ourselves here in August, and summer is racing on. Can you see the changes in the day length, yet? Or feel it in some quiet, instinctive way? I’m ready for the slowdown of autumn, personally, but I can be patient.

I’ve been exploring masks, this summer, and while this is still the only one I’ve fired fully I have a few coming. It’s interesting how the absence of eyes can either draw you to imagine yourself as a participant or ward you off as if by an unseen observer.

King vulture, 2026.
I made two of these studies, and am honestly daydreaming about a full-bodied king turkey vulture sometime this winter. They’re my favorite bird, and a small group roosts near our house and I can watch them sun themselves every morning. What beautiful, graceful creatures!
