ME (in late November): Skeeter Baird, I need someone to be KING CANDY for the Youngstown Click parade float!!! Please dress up and be in the parade in freezing weather!! 🥶

SKEETER: Whatever you need, I'm in!

He let me dress him up like a king and we went through the streets of Youngstown like the board, giving out candy to the crowd!

NOW, we can show up for our fellow at this FUN EVENT that he is a part of on Sept 19th! This event raises money to help LOCAL FAMILIES who are fighting childhood cancer. The cost of travel, the time off work, the strain of visits and appointments, and childcare...it can be overwhelming....

BUT ONE ORGANIZATION called Ashlin's Alliance stepped up to help! They raise money for the national St Baldricks Foundation once a year, but this event is all about the community!

YOU CAN HELP by simply following their page Ashlin's Alliance, showing up to the event and SHARING it with friends! THEY PUT IN THE WORK and together, we can be a real blessing to families in their darkest hour.

BEAUTIFUL DAYS AHEAD...Why not enjoy them on the patio? I stopped in at Zenobia Middle Eastern Cuisine in for lunch the other day!

It felt like I was eating in a garden!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE their patio, which has been carefully and lovingly filled with fresh LIVE plants! What a beautiful oasis to stop and eat in!

They had a lunch menu, which was perfect for me! I chose the CHICKEN OVER RICE, which was a nice sized portion for ONLY $8 during Happy Hour!! It came with white sauce and peppers, which I poured on and enjoyed a very flavorful lunch!

I didn't take pictures of the inside of the restaurant, but they have a spacious dining room, bar, and homemade dessert case inside!

A MAN NAMED Mike Ruozzo started a group years ago called Unity in the community! This group made it their mission to do as much good as possible in the community!

- Families needed support, they showed up!
- Zion Hensley (National Boxing Champ) putting on hometown shows, they showed up!
- Other bike groups doing Turkey Runs, Veterans Runs. Memorial Runs...they showed up!

BUT there was something specific that Mike loved to do! Every year, they'd raise money to buy as many hams as possible for local families, to help at Christmas!

They'd announce the date, and first come, first serve, families would come to get a ham. Mike loved it! He loved seeing people helped, and had a heart as big as Texas!

Mike has since passed away, but the love and mission he began is still going! The group still meets and THIS YEAR, they had a run to raise money to continue the legacy of the , while honoring some of the Founding members, who were a bigl part of making these kind of events happen!

They now work in collaboration with another bike group called Wings Over The Valley INC, who throughout the year raise money for a FREE CHRISTMAS SHOP experience for local struggling families!

Note: When you see a bike run advertised, you can support it even as a non-rider by showing up to order a meal and enter the raffles!

I am so honored to have so many of these bikers in Youngstown Click! And now, you are connected to them and the good they do in our community!! :)

EAST SIDE OF YOUNGSTOWN...that is where I found this called The Take Out! And man, was the food delicious!!

For the past 5 years, the owner Waymond Chambers has been cooking for hs customers in this location, and many days, he sells out of his popular items!

Pickup or , both seemed to be popular options while I was there!

Although it's a noticeable building, it's still too easy to drive right on by and not get to taste the delicious food inside it's doors! But you need to stop!

ORIGINAL RECIPES of authentic homemade , , , , collard greens, Mac n Cheese, baked beans, Cajun corn, French fries, fried okra, and more!

TOP IT ALL OFF with peach cobbler or banana pudding....it's enough to make your mouth water just thinking about!

In every corner of our amazing region, you can find people living their dream, taking risks and chances, showing their creativity and love, and waiting for YOU to discover them! :)

Tickets are NOW ON SALE for the Annual Youngstown Ghost Tour...BUT it's not what it sounds like!

This is not some spooky paranormal expedition. This is a HISTORICAL TOUR of some of Youngstown's Most Famous landmarks along Wick Ave told by characters in costume....kind of like an interactive play!

This fun way of combining real history, significant landmarks, theatrical performances, and community involvement is the brainchild of Cindy Castro-DiRusso, owner of Smarter Move Talent!

This year, the stories, the tour, the characters are all different than previous years! You will ge to start at the Wick Mansionand hear stories of the people and places of our city, told by actors playing these characters!

I REMEMBER walking into an office at work that morning finishing my paperwork from my overnight job. The radio was always on playing music, but this time, it sounded like a radio drama.

I was in there alone and it took me a couple minutes to realize something was wrong. By the time I got to the guard shack to walk to the car, the guard was glued to his little TV, which I glanced at just at the moment the second plane hit.

The nation changed that day. Our nation mourned, others cheered. The world changed. Individuals and families, communities and nations traumatized.

Heroes were born and a resilience seen. A city banded together to try to rise from the ashes, everyday heroes weren't born that day, they simply emerged to the spotlight, doing what was in them to do. And NOW, 25 years later, we have been passed the torch.

The torch to not simply remember the past, but to build from it. To not let the sacrifice and loss be in vain. To live and become extraordinary. Because what couldn't be killed that day was the HOPE in every American to become something new the next day.

All throughout the day, I encourage you to find things you're thankful that you lived another day to see AND find something that you hope to change in the days ahead.

Because after all, THAT is the opportunity that we have in this nation regardless of background, ethnicity, color, or creed.

Some hate it, some want to destroy it, but we will stand to be a beacon of freedom to the world, to future generations born here and those who choose to come here!

MAY WE NEVER FORGET! God bless and comfort the families and friends who have been forever affected by this day 25 years ago.
