It is with a heavy heart and an aggravated mind that I need to speak out against Art Theft.
I know it's common sense that Art Theft is a crime. But when someone you think is a friend, let alone a consistent partner in a working sense, commits said crime it can leave one with a sense of clear betrayal.
I warn everyone of a man named Jack Hughes within the NE Ohio cosplay and photography community. He has been found guilty of stealing people's photography and using it as a way to garner an unfounded reputation for himself; tricking paying customers into choosing him for their photography needs.
When I first met him, it was through an Ohio Cosplayer group where he was offering his photography services for a very reasonable price. His work looked good and I was happy with the results. He was just re-starting his photography side-gig and I was more than happy to support and help promote him.
Then he began sending me photos of shoots he had recently "finished" and I was blown away! They were PHENOMENALLY DONE. I was so happy for him and his growing skills!
It turns out these photos were NOT HIS.
He even used a different photographer's work to convince me to utilize his services for my MARRIAGE ELOPEMENT CEREMONY. I paid him hundreds to have my elopement photographed, and he didn't even PAY HIS PARTNER who DROVE him and PAID for his food!
At a recent convention, it was made known that he will refuse to shoot pictures of cosplayers he deems "ugly", and will talk poorly of cosplayers if they are not wearing thousands worth of costuming work. If you choose to work with him, he will claim you as "his" and if you seek a different photographer, he becomes very aggressive and possessive as though you belong to him.
Beware of Jack Hughes, Jack Hughes Photography, (Formerly) Wicked Double Vision Productions, Wicked Visions Photography. He's a liar, a thief, and an all-around despicable person.
