Considering a Rosettes series on paper. What do we think?

I really thought this trip wasn’t going to happen.
In 2016, and I honeymooned in Aruba. We had such a magical trip that we promised we would come back “on the 5’s.” We planned to start a tradition to return to Aruba on our 5th, 10th, etc. wedding anniversaries.
When 2020 hit and raged on, I thought, “there is absolutely no way.” I started brainstorming places we could drive to, instead.
Well, we are on our way today! We are fully vaccinated, tested, packed, and ready to go to Aruba to celebrate our 5th anniversary! Happy tears have already happened.
Swipe to see baby Christine and Mark on the day we arrived at the for our honeymoon in 2016!

Working up a new palette in miniature before bringing it to large canvases (one is 30”x40” and fills me with sheer giddy, giggly glee every time I spot it in my art closet).
I curated this palette from the sunset photos I snapped in the North Georgia mountains last month. These colors! I’m obsessed.
If you’re coming to Sea Island for the retreat next week, you’ll get first dibs on this collection at the Sip, Shop, + Socialize event on Thursday afternoon!
Comment and let me know if you’ll be there so I can be sure to look out for you!

Happy New Year! Cheers to more books, porch hangs, and Daisy derpy faces (swipe 👈 to see her best Dug “SQUIRREL!” impression) in 2021.
If 2020 taught me anything, it’s to be flexible. So, instead of setting resolutions this year, I’m setting habit intentions. Here are a few things I’m planning to do more of this year:
⭐️ Say yes to what excites me
⭐️ Say no to what drags me down
⭐️ Ask for help (Did you know people can’t read your mind and help given via asking isn’t done under duress? Shocking, right?)
⭐️ Exploring
⭐️ Puppy playtime
Oh and ⭐️ drink more water 😂
What do you want to do more (or less!) of this year?

I don’t have any pretty parting words for 2020. Yes, there were good moments (like turning to painting and falling in love with it), but overall this year wasn’t kind to me. It was messy and painful. And I’m learning that that is ok. What I’m taking into 2021 is the idea that it’s ok for not everything to feel “IG grid perfect” all the time. What’s more, it’s totally ok to not hide it when life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows.
So, here’s to fresh slates and new years and appreciating the mess. It sure does make for great painting inspiration.

Perks of living in Orlando (and being an annual passholder—there’s no “but we paid for today” hang ups if the park is more crowded than we’re comfortable with)!

Hey there! I've noticed a few new faces around my little corner of the internet, so I thought I'd introduce myself:
-I'm Christine; I'm a reader, editor, new artist, and avid traveler.
-With all that in mind, you won't be surprised to know I'm an enneagram 4 and INFJ. My top are Learner, Intellection, Input, Empathy, and Futuristic. Basically, I'm a sensitive, creative nerd.
-I recently revamped my website (christinedoretrant.com) and pulled all of my entrepreneurial passions under one roof! There, you'll find original artwork, hand-painted stationery, editorial services, travel stories, and plenty of puppy pictures.
-Why puppy pictures? Because I'm also a dog mama to the sweetest, most extroverted, snuggliest little yellow lab on the planet (no, I'm not biased at all, why do you ask?).
-I share puppy parent duties and travel itineraries with my awesome husband, Mark. You'll see his handsome face, dry wit, and occasional (loving) eye-rolls at my hijinks around here from time to time!
Welcome new buddies! Come on in! I'm thrilled to meet you. If you have a minute, drop a comment below and introduce yourself, please!
