Though it has long been celebrated among the African American community, it is a history that has been marginalized and still remains largely unknown to the wider public. The legacy of Juneteenth shows the value of deep hope and urgent organizing in uncertain times.”

🔸Exhibition Dates: June 27 - July 25, 2026

We invite you to make “birthday cakes” to celebrate our country’s 250th birthday. These will be 3D cakes decorated or filled with hopes and dreams. Just to clarify, they can not be edible. Use all sorts of imaginative materials to make the cake of your dreams (feel free to recycle)! Size limit: 24”W x 24”D 36”H (if larger, ask us). You may submit up to four (4) pieces. Nothing over 100lbs please.

We will extend our “Red, White, Blue and You” exhibition through July 25, 2026 - these two exhibitions will run side by side. It’s like having your cake and eating it too!

There is no cost to submit your entry. If your artwork is chosen, we will let you know by email. Fees for installation:
• In Gallery Exhibition Hanging Fee - $25 per piece for members, $35 per piece for non members.
• Online Exhibition Participation Fee - $10 per piece for members, $15 per piece for non members.

The gallery takes 25% commission on member sales and 35% commission on non-member sales.

Here’s how to participate:

1. POST an original visual art piece inspired by this month’s theme/prompt: FAMILY (begins Sun., 5/3/26 & ends Sun., 6/21/26).

2. TAG US & 2+ FRIENDS and use the hashtags, & for an opportunity to be featured here on Friday, June 26th❗️If technical issues with the hashtag occur and you don’t see your image there, PLEASE send us your image by DM or email to [email protected].

3. FOLLOW US & BDACartchallenge to enjoy the online gallery of art entries and their artists. Please remember to show your support by liking their works, sharing and following them.
