Standing Room Only is a traveling community theater group serving Yelm, Rainier, and the surrounding community

Standing Room Only has performed at the Triad Arts Theater, Gordon's Grange, The Spiral Cafe, and Gordon's Outdoor Theater. Despite the name of our group, we do have seating for our audiences. Recent shows include "Monty Python's SPAMalot" , "The Importance of Being Earnest" & "Incorruptible" . In the past you may also have seen "The Producer's", "Cabaret," "Into The Woods," "Annie Get Your Gun," "The Man Who Came To Dinner," and "Impossible Dream: A Marital Musical."

SRO Theater had a great time this morning working with Dustin Stephan with YARD Security Services-YSS acting through real-world scenarios for their officers to de-escalate. We were so impressed that they would take the time to work this hard to work through the emotions and unpredictability of human interaction. If you ever get a chance to have them work your events or locations, they're ready!

🌱🎭 LOCATION ANNOUNCEMENT: Little Shop of Horrors will be performing at Yelm High School 🎭🌱

SRO Theater is excited to announce that—thanks to our partnership with the YHS Performing Arts Booster Club our upcoming production of Little Shop of Horrors will take place at the Yelm High School Performing Arts Center, the same world‑class venue where SRO previously staged Cinderella.

What makes this collaboration truly special is the expanded role for YHS students that are interested in theater arts, who will be invited to join our adult cast and creative team in meaningful, hands‑on ways:

- Stagecraft opportunities - building, painting, and helping bring Skid Row to life
- Tech team roles - lighting, sound, backstage crew, and production support
- Ensemble performance spots - a chance to share the stage in select scenes

This production isn’t just a show - it’s a community collaboration that helps grow the next generation of performers and creators. 🌱✨

Performances will be over the 4 weekends in October, on Fridays and Saturdays at 7pm and Sunday Matinees at 2pm.

🌱💥 Little Shop’s first readthrough was ELECTRIC! 💥🌱

The cast came in swinging, this is truly an all‑star team! Our production crew is already firing on all cylinders. The energy, the laughs, the chemistry… this show is ready to roar.

And if you think you’ve seen Little Shop because you’ve watched the movie, you definitely haven’t. The stage version is a whole different beast with new songs, new moments, and a wildly fun twist on the story.

The SRO Theater family is grieving the unexpected loss of Maurilio Velasco, a talented actor, collaborator, and author.

Maurilio wasn’t just a performer... he was a bright spark in every rehearsal room, a steady encourager, and wildly funny. He was someone who made our theater feel warmer simply by being part of it.
