Please consider helping.
The Yelm High School Choir program has seen an unbelievable amount of success the last 11 years and we are not done! Singing at Carnegie Hall in New York City was not the end of our journey, but a simple snapshot in time of how far the Yelm Choir program has come. We must continue to strive for excellence in the face of uncertain times.
At the end of the 24-25 school year, the district cut all supplemental contracts. As a result, we have been told that our evening concerts or any choir activity outside of the normal school day is unable to take place. If we are to proceed with having our concerts, they must happen during the school day. This will have a great impact on our families and the communities ability to attend. In our view music is meant to be shared. By letting the community experience the music we make, it strengthens relations, moves us to be better people and inspires growth in all who share the experience.
What does this mean? If we are to have a normal school year for the choir program we will need to raise approximately $25,000 between the work of the Choir Boosters and the Choir ASB. This is $17,000+ beyond what we normally would need to raise every year. These funds would cover the costs of competition events, our 4 evening concert series and piano accompaniment. Separated out the expenses are $10,000 (competition), $7500 (Supplemental contract), $7500 (piano accompaniment) respectively.
