Yankton Children's Choir is back for FALL of 2026! A fun opportunity for kids to learn vocal skills training under the direction of YSD choir directors Angela Larson, Kacie Bray and Taya Bult. Open to all students in grades 3-8, this program will include 9 rehearsals and 2 performance date open to family members. Registration is OPEN NOW up through Aug. 28th. EXCITING NEWS.....Music at the Meridian is returning this week for a SPECIAL EVENT! To celebrate 80 years of service, Yankton Medical Clinic is sponsoring an incredible night of music here in Yankton. Join us in Riverside Park Thursday, August 6th, as we welcome back the Crossroad Sound. Food vendors, Ben's Brewing, face painting, and the community mural project will all be in place. Come celebrate 80 years with YMC and join us for an amazing finale event as Music at the Meridian comes to a close.

250 years ago, a group of brave individuals gathered and planned ideas for a new nation. In the year 2026, the City of Yankton is celebrating the anniversary of the birth of the United States of America that came from those radical ideas.

On July 30, 2026, a time capsule was buried that will be opened when Yankton celebrates America's 300th anniversary. Inside the capsule, are sealed items that create a snapshot of Yankton life over the past decades. It is the hope that the items will be intriguing to those who open the capsule in 2076 and it sparks in them the desire to look back and even research Yankton as it was in 2026.

Burying a time capsule is, if you take the time to think about it, an act of supreme optimism. It is an explicit declaration of faith that the United States of America, and specifically Yankton, SD, will endure through future generations. So, now we have said happy anniversary USA and may we, and the generations to come, continue to build on the radical idea of "a perfect union" as we all move toward America's 300th.
