BY FAR THE BEST SHOW SO FAR!

We didn’t get to play outdoors, but it turned into an amazing night with Corwin Morris joining us for a very impressive first performance! He’s a Kansas native and is attending Mt. Marty!

IN FACT, I was grateful that he could carry the show while I ran to get a cajon! He was grooving so good on the acoustic and vocals that we decided to add a beat!

The music evolved organically through the night as we all ran with whatever seemed funnest and we all felt it was something special that none of us could predict or plan. Sometimes it just all clicks!

We all broke a sweat keeping up with each other and swapping verses, experimenting with harmony on the choruses - NAILED every one we tried, for the most part. It is the MUDDY mic after all, but sometimes it’s fun to play in the mud and be kids again! 🙂

It turned into a night of various folks coming up on their own, joining in to harmonize, hit the drum, play a guitar, or just clap along! I’ll be posting images from the event over the next month!

Jasmine Treichler returned with another stellar performance across a few talents - she sang a few songs on her own, then she did a dramatic reading of one of my favorite musicals - Hamilton! She did an amazing job! She and I (Luke) finished the night out by singing a song together on guitar and we nailed it!

Our new friend John came back and played guitar and sang, and shared some amazing poetry as well! There were several lines and turns of phrase that were clever and surprised us!

Lastly - THIS WAS OUR 24TH SHOW!

While we have been doing this slightly longer due to a few breaks, this ended up being quite an UNEXPECTED ANNIVERSARY for the show!

I hope you’ll spread the word and come see what all the fuss is about! Join us next month, on the last Friday of each month - ALWAYS at our local VFW Post 791!

I’m watching the weather - sprinkles for now… and NOT blistering hot! If the rain quits, it should be a nice cool, partly cloudy evening. No need to roast in the sun! Sunset is at 8:59! Show will go until 10:00, so it should be the best part of the evening!

DON’T FORGET YOUR CAMPING CHAIRS!

Muddy Mic #22 was a hit! Thanks to all who came out to share on the fun! Lots of smiles all night!

Big thanks to Michael and Tony who played and/or sang with the band and helped with setup and teardown!

We had a few families come out to support their children, both kids and adults! Three girls under age 12 (ish!) sang several songs for us! They also did their part by dancing throughout the whole show! Gracelynn is the oldest and she really did a great job!

Keegan is a 20 year old Yankton local who sang some Pearl Jam and Nirvana for us last night. It was his first performance in front of a crowd and he crushed it! We will be seeing more of him. Stay tuned! 😊

Next month I’ll be adding a few more microphones, and we might have a few hand drums we can hand out to the audience if they want to play along! A drum circle is always fun!

TONIGHT’S THE NIGHT!

The ONLY Mic in town reserved JUST FOR YOU to share your talents! NO COST!

Spring during the day, and fall at night - grab a sweater and join us inside where it’s warm, and the kitchen is always cooking, and the beers always cold!

We have a brand new guy excited to try his hand tonight at some singing and/or guitar, plus a returning favorite poet who (I believe) won our first “crowd favorite” all the way back at Muddy Mo’s!

If you would like to sing with the band, check out the show and let us know what song(s) you’d like. We can usually figure out most songs! Pop, rock, funk, etc.

What a GREAT show tonight!

Tony debuted his new Djembe, and the surprise of the night was, not one, but TWO brand new singers!

Jasmine and Nikki took to the stage tonight to sing and they both crushed it! That’s what an open mic is all about!
