We are very excited to celebrate David J. Kahle as an inductee into the 2026 Fine Arts Hall of Fame!

After earning his MFA from the University of South Dakota, David joined Mount Marty University in 1992, serving for over three decades as Professor of Art and Director of the Bede Art Gallery. A dedicated educator, accomplished artist, and generous mentor, he has shared his talents through regional exhibitions, international travel experiences, illustration projects, and the restoration of sacred and historical art throughout the Yankton community. The Crimson Door Holiday Boutique is back at the historic G.A.R. Hall, and we're looking for local artists and makers to fill it with handmade gifts this holiday season!

Crimson Door runs November 7 through December 22 and is one of the best ways for Yankton shoppers to find one-of-a-kind gifts while supporting local creatives. We're looking for all kinds of handmade work: jewelry, pottery, paintings and prints, ornaments, textiles, woodwork, cards, candles, and anything else you've created with care.

Tonight is the opening reception for Dianne Selchert's exhibit, Nature in Acrylics, Page-Turning Mysteries, and Old Barns, at the G.A.R. Hall!

More than 125 pieces fill the gallery, including mountain landscapes, glowing sunsets, waterfalls, winter scenes, and Dave Selchert's old barn drawings. Most of the work is for sale at great prices, so come find a piece to take home!

This exhibit fills the gallery with more than 130 pieces, from sweeping mountain landscapes and glowing sunsets to peaceful waterfalls and quiet winter scenes. The show also includes Dave Selchert's pencil drawings of old barns. Most of the work is for sale at great prices, so it's a wonderful chance to bring home an original piece of art.

Come hear remarks from the artist, take your time wandering through the acrylic paintings, and enjoy an evening of art with friends and neighbors.

Thank you to South Dakota Department of Corrections - Mike Durfee State Prison for their support and donation to Yankton Area Arts. Donations like these allow us to continue supporting artists and individuals throughout Yankton and the surrounding area!

Proceeds from a recent pizza fundraiser at Mike Durfee State Prison were distributed during September.

Offenders are allowed to order food from an outside vendor periodically with money from their institutional accounts. A small surcharge is applied, with the money earmarked for a local organization or charity in the area, allowing offenders to give back to society.

A total of $2,901 was donated to the Yankton Area Arts (YAA), where funds are used to support events and workshops that provide free access to the arts in the Yankton community.

Final two days of the Mighty Mo Photo Show at Yankton Area Arts!

Come in today to take a last look at the wonderful collection of photos from regional photographers and VOTE for your favorite ones! PEOPLE'S CHOICE award will be announced at our next opening reception - Friday, September 4th (5-7 pm).

This exhibit closes Tuesday at 5pm.
The gallery will be closed Wednesday and Thursday for exhibit change.
