After 43 years of answering one of life’s most difficult calls, my husband is finally retiring.
Many people know him as a funeral director, but I’ve always thought of him as a “last responder.” While others arrive in moments of crisis, he has spent more than four decades walking beside families through some of the hardest days of their lives—with compassion, dignity, patience, and an unwavering heart for service.
Over the course of his career, he has had the privilege of serving more than 5,800 families. That’s 5,800 times he helped someone say goodbye, offered comfort when words were hard to find, and carried the responsibility of honoring a life with grace and respect. It’s a calling that few truly understand, and one that he has fulfilled with extraordinary kindness.
I couldn’t be more proud of the man he is, the life he has dedicated to serving others, and the difference he has made in our community. His legacy isn’t measured only by the years he worked, but by the countless lives he touched along the way.
As this incredible chapter comes to a close, I hope you’ll join us in celebrating him.
