We recommend as early as 4-6 weeks for most piercings that tend to snag or rub, examples are external ear or cartilage 👂 piercings, that tend to snag on hair, mouth piercings that rub on gums or teeth,

We want you to wait to downsize at least 2-4 months for nostril, septum, and surface piercings, because switching these too early can cause more trauma to the piercing channel that may result in more swelling…

WHAT CAUSES PIERCING BUMPS:

Most piercing bumps are irritation bumps caused by physical pressure, friction, or micro-movements from sleeping on the piercing, snagging it on clothes or hair, wearing poor-quality metal like nickel, or using harsh chemical cleansers like alcohol and hydrogen peroxide.

Top Causes of Piercing BumpsSleeping on the piercing: Puts constant asymmetrical pressure on cartilage (helix, conch) and creates friction.

Physical trauma/snagging: Accidentally catching the jewelry on clothing, towels, or hairbrushes.Low-quality metals: Jewelry containing nickel or cheap alloys that trigger contact allergies.Improper jewelry shape/length: Wearing a ring too early or failing to downsize a long starter post.

Chemical irritation: Applying harsh products like, alcohol, or peroxide.
