AUDITION NOTICE:
A DOLL'S HOUSE
by Henrik Ibsen
Directed by Anna Blair

Synopsis: an ordinary family finds their lives disrupted by past crimes that threaten to come to light. Over the course of one Christmas Eve, secrets are revealed, illusions shattered, and difficult decisions are made. In this classic Norwegian play written in 1879, the themes of personal agency and living authentically remain shockingly relevant to audiences today.

CAST OF CHARACTERS:
NORA HELMER: a seemingly content housewife who would be happy to have plenty of money and no worries. But when she must take drastic measures to preserve her family, can she be more than just the pretty doll everyone assumes her to be?
TORVALD HELMER: on the surface, a doting husband and scrupulous bank manager who values appearances and propriety.
DR. RANK: a close family friend who treats Nora as an intelligent person capable of making her own choices, instead of a fragile doll.
CHRISTINE LINDE: a childhood friend of Nora's. She is pragmatic, choosing security over romance, which has left her feeling empty.
NILS KROGSTAD: one of Torvald's employees. Both of the Helmers have their own reasons for disliking him, which he exploits to improve his own situation.
ANNE MARIE: Nora's childhood nanny, who is now nanny to Nora's own children. She is a mother figure to Nora, and perhaps the only person who fully understands the difficult choices Nora has to make.

Auditions will be held Monday, Nov 9 and Tuesday, Nov 10 at 7pm at Xenia Area Community Theater front lobby. You need only attend one audition day. If you would like to audition, but are unable to attend those dates, please email Anna at [email protected]

SANTAPHOBIA

A Family Friendly Christmas show!
Synopsis: Alice Gruber, a wealthy widow, must cure her estranged children of their fear of Santa Claus in order to redeem her and her late husband’s souls. She offers each of her grown children and their families, a portion of her vast estate if they will, but spend Christmas Eve with her in the Gruber mansion. But each sibling is determined to scare the others away so that they can keep the entire fortune for themselves (Scooby Doo style!) but instead of ghosts, they use the fear of Santa to do their scaring. After an action packed night of fake Santa scaring, b***y traps, and a visit from the real Santa Claus, Alice must break her promise and reveal her late husband’s dreadful secret so that the family can finally learn the true meaning of Christmas.

Sandra - female, snotty, teenage daughter of Charles and Maggi

Nellie - female, married to George
Ricky - male, loud pr***en son to George and Nellie
Cindy - female, loud pr***en daughter to George and Nellie
Ma Bee - female, crusty old grandma of Ricky and Cindy
Nancy Gruber - female, youngest Gruber sibling
Paul - male, married to Nancy
Santa - male, the real thing (non-speaking)
Ages listed are approximate - the younger children may be aged 7-12 presenting
