Wow, wow, wow is all I can say. After such a terrible year for rain we were blessed with some beautiful weather for Saturday and Sunday at the Lawrence Motorsports Auto & Trailer Sales Boo Banger. We started out the weekend a day early on Thursday with a shoot out. We had 40 entries with Rob Lutzke coming out on top over Cliff Lewis. J.R. Lockhart was our loan semi finalist.
Friday began under the weather. Rain moved out early enough to have a gamblers race with no reentry round but too late to start our scheduled $7000 to win main event. We had 96 cars stage up for first round and when the smoke settled Marty Spivey won a close final over Jerry Hollingsworth.
Saturday painted a much brighter picture with some of the most beautiful weather we’ve seen this year. Our 3 $7000 to win events were combined and made into 2 $10,500 to win races. We were able to get an early start at 9 AM and we were blessed with 338 cars staging up for first round and 50 Axer Performance junior dragsters! After trick or treat, the kids got to have their turn where AJ Trauth was able to defeat Brantley Utz to earn his first Boo Banger win. We would like to think Walt and Ben Crum from Muffler Brothers of Xenia and Muffler Brothers of Vandalia for paying for half of all of the juniors entries while we sponsored the remaining balance. You heard that right, the juniors raced for free. Shortly after the Junior final ran as we quickly approached our midnight curfew. We ran our final for the $10,500 Two Girls Garage Saturday main event with Rob Lutzke getting his second win of the weekend over Brian Newport.
As Sunday began, we were able to get an earlier start on the Abruzzi Sunday main event with only having 10 new entry time trials to do before first round began. We started out the day with 299 entries and 40 Junior dragsters and at the end of the day we saw Brett McKay earn his first Big check over Tyler Leach. Our junior field came down to Brittney Trauth defeating Brantley Utz for his second runner-up of the weekend.
We would like to thank all of our sponsors for making this happen and even possible and everyone that decorated and dressed up to make this event so much fun! Our trailer decoration contest winner was the Reed/Huff family collaboration with their amazing haunted house. Second place went to the Edwards family and Carla Leach got third place. We loved all the decorations and costumes that were worn.
Extra thanks to Ron Vance and the Darana Raceway- Xenia,Ohio staff for allowing me to continue to do these events. They all worked their tails off all weekend long to make it happen!
