I originally meant to make a very rough sketch and then paint with acrylic markers, but then…

So, I avoid drawing and painting people, I’ve found it difficult. When I first started this journey I guess I just got discouraged. Now that I took a major break and recently returned to arting, I feel like I got better. This is my best artistic rendering of a human. This is encouraging. My youngest is going to give me some lessons on drawing people, they’re a great artist.

I originally meant to do a very basic prncil sketch and then use acrylic markers as the main medium. Now I’m trying to decide if I want to leave it like this, add a little color with pencils or pastels, or use watercolors. It is on good watercolor paper.

Btw, the reference image I used is from another impressionist. Anyone know the artist and the painting/drawing?

After making this bag I decided I wanted to do my own version of The Scream. I thought it would be easier to bring up an image of the original rather than try and use my bag as a reference. I didn’t know there were four versions by Edvard Munch, possibly five if the lithograph is actually his. I’ll have to look into that. Anyway, here is my version. I chose the 1895 version done in pastels as my reference. I’ll try and get a better picture of it once I track down the sketchbook I did it in. Mine is done in acrylic markers on black paper.

I know I’ve said it before, but I am going to try and post more here. I’m getting back into art. I decided to do a couple of my version of works from “the masters”. I especially like impressionism, maybe because it hits my current skill level. Maybe not, I think I’ve always liked the style.
