Comprised of the ever-changing, “permanent” PopUp and the intimate BrickBox Theater, the JMAC (pronounced JAY-mack) is downtown Worcester, MA’s home for arts, culture and creativity. The PopUp offers a place for local artists, organizations, and creatives to develop a variety of events ranging from art shows and open mics to yoga classes and lessons in drag. Thanks to the JMAC’s incredible funders
, use of the PopUp is fully subsidized, and events are offered free and open to the public. The BrickBox Theater is a new performance venue where professional artists are empowered to have their music, dance, films, plays, installations, cabarets, and other performance events presented to audiences eager for a wide range of creative experiences. The flexible space seats up to audience members, and comes fully loaded with state-of-the art equipment. Support spaces include three dressing rooms, a palatial green room, wardrobe facilities, and a spacious rehearsal hall. As initiatives of the Worcester Cultural Coalition, the PopUp and the BrickBox are dedicated to cultural equity, community engagement, collaborative co-working, and creative entrepreneurship. The BrickBox is operated in partnership with The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory for the Performing Arts.
