Monthly music / theatre events, in an historic downtown Wooster venue, available to the community for free. Music on Market is a collaboration of Main Street Wooster, Inc., Wayne Center for the Arts and The United Methodist Church of Wooster.
The series provides a diverse selection of high-quality music throughout the year to the entire community. These non-sectarian performances are presented in the Wooster UMC sanctuary - one of the largest, historical venues in our downtown and has handicap accessibility, available parking and proximity to downtown restaurants. All events are free with a free-will offering to help cover the costs that accompany this amazing series. Seating is open style and no tickets are required.

The Wayne Center for the Arts announces the return of Burning River Brass to Wooster, OH by way of the Fisher Auditorium on Saturday, December 18th at 7:00pm. Admission is free, though donations are requested and greatly appreciated to help fund great events like this in the future. Burning River Brass at the Fisher Auditorium is a Music on Market concert, in partnership with the Wayne Center for the Arts, Wooster United Methodist Church, and Ohio State University Wooster.

“I cannot wait to unite with my colleagues (and dear friends!),” says musician Andrew Sords. “Mari Sato and Elizabeth DeMio for Wooster's Music on Market Series. My colleagues are virtuosos on their instruments, and we enjoy presenting works both obscure and well-known to audiences. Our "Dueling Divas" program features works by Vivaldi, Shostakovich, Kreisler, and others...meaty works that explore the chamber music connection, and showpieces that dazzle. My connection to Wooster goes back to my 2019 tour with the Wooster Chorus (and their fabulous director Lisa Wong), and each trip to Wooster is a highlight. We look forward to filling the United Methodist Church with tuneful works, an eclectic array of musical pieces, and spoken anecdotes about the program.”

An important message regarding Music on Market:
It is with deep sadness that we announce the cancellation of the 2020-21 Music on Market Concert Series. While we are still dedicated to providing rich live music experiences in downtown Wooster, we are trusting in the advice of state and local officials, and postponing this season until a time when our entire audience can attend safely.
This is not a decision we have taken lightly, but in discussion with all staff, board members, venues, and especially the performing artists involved. We had planned an extremely exciting season and are heartbroken to see it not brought to light. We’ve been in discussion with many of the planned artists and are hoping to bring them to Wooster at a future date.

Good Tuesday, MoM friends - I just had an inquiry about tomorrow evening's organ concert. They had seen an announcement and there was no cancellation information. Please know that, while some things are opening, we are not hosting concerts. This is to say that tomorrow night's concert is cancelled. Hopefully we will be able to bring Richard Hills in at a later date.
Good evening, all..... it's a strange time as I bypass yet another event that was listed on my phone calendar. We at Music on Market wish everyone well as we continue to adjust to the affects of the COVID-19 virus. Stay home, wear your masks when you're out, wash your hands. Stay safe.
To our fans, friends and followers - for only the second time in MoM's history, we have cancelled our performance. BUT.... We are already making plans for Clark's return! It's extremely strange not being at the church preparing for tonight's silent film and I would suggest tuning into Turner Classic Movies to get your nostalgic movie fix.

2020 Wooster Community Choice
Announcements are often difficult to make, especially when it involves change.
At the Burning River Brass concert in December, I announced my retirement as Artistic Director, from Music on Market.
Last fall, I met James Fox the newly-hired Executive Director for Wayne Center for the Arts. I introduced him to MoM and described our mission to bring free world-class music events to Wooster and Wayne county and that we were about to begin our eighth season. James told me of his visions to bring the community back into the arts center. After a lengthy conversation, sharing a mutual love of this kind of series, I asked James if he would be interested in adopting Music on Market.
We can now say, the rest will be history. Effective May 31, 2020, MoM will no longer be a program of Wooster United Methodist Church, but will be a program of Wayne Center for the Arts.
Some of the large events - Burning River Brass and the annual silent film with Clark Wilson, for example - will continue to be held at Wooster UMC. Others will be held at Wayne Center for the Arts. The series will continue to be free and will continue to be held monthly from October through May.
I have many emotions about this decision but feel the timing is right for both of us. After eight seasons as the volunteer Artistic Director, I know MoM has developed a dedicated audience, with a long list of acts that want to be part of the series.
In the meantime, I look forward to seeing all of you at the upcoming events at Wooster UMC!
