🌾📚 Joanne Lehman of Wooster writes fiction and poetry rooted in her rural Ohio background and Anabaptist Mennonite heritage. Her Benville Community Series follows three Old Order Amish women from Holmes County as they navigate emotional and spiritual challenges, always with hope, healing, forgiveness, and a touch of romance. Her poetry has been praised for drawing wisdom from farm fields, woodlots, and community life. Recent titles include Leah’s Faith (2025), Susan’s Hope (2025), and Fannie’s Love (2026). Joanne says returning to the Buckeye Book Fair has been a joy and that the excitement of planners and participants continues to grow each year.

📚 Most readers can name the teacher who encouraged them to keep reading... AND WRITING! Who was the teacher who said, “You have something to say. Keep going.”

At the Buckeye Book Fair, we carry that legacy forward. As a nonprofit literary organization, every book sold helps us offer programs that support Ohio readers and writers all year long.

One of the moments we’re most proud of is the Young Authors Conference. With generous support from the Ohio Arts Council and business sponsors, we welcome students from across the state to celebrate their writing. Teachers partner with us to recognize excellence, and each year we get to hand out awards to young writers who are just beginning to discover their voice.
