Linemaster Switch Corp.

Linemaster Switch Corp. Linemaster Switch Corporation is located in Woodstock, CT and is the leading manufacturer of foot operated controls in the world.

Linemaster Switch Corporation has been designing and manufacturing precision foot controls since 1952. Headquartered in Woodstock, Connecticut, Linemaster has grown into one of the world’s most recognized manufacturers of foot switches used in medical, laboratory, and industrial equipment. From this facility, more than one million switches are manufactured and shipped each year to OEM partners aro

und the world. Linemaster focuses on the design and manufacture of both standard and custom foot control solutions built to meet the specific requirements of original equipment manufacturers. Many applications require precise, hands-free control in environments where reliability, responsiveness, and durability are essential. As customer needs and technology have evolved over time, Linemaster has met the challenge by continuing to expand its engineering capabilities to support a wide range of equipment and applications. Linemaster’s expertise is focused on the medical device industry. Foot controls are commonly integrated into surgical systems, diagnostic imaging equipment, dental units, laboratory instrumentation, and other clinical technologies where consistent hands-free operator control is critical. These environments often require components that are dependable, easy to operate, and designed with safety and cleanability in mind. To support global medical device manufacturers, Linemaster operates under a comprehensive quality and regulatory framework. The company maintains ISO 13485 certification, the internationally recognized quality management system standard for medical device manufacturing. Linemaster foot switches are also designed to meet a variety of global safety and regulatory requirements, including UL, CSA, CE, IEC, FCC, and RoHS compliance, depending on the specific product configuration and application. These certifications support integration into equipment that meets the strictest of international regulatory standards. Linemaster was also the first company to receive FDA 510(K) clearance for a (wireless or wired) foot switch, reflecting an early commitment to supporting medical device manufacturers operating within regulated environments and pushing the envelope of what’s possible. Linemaster continues to expand its portfolio of foot control technologies to support evolving equipment designs. Linemaster offers a wide range of control solutions, including RF wireless foot switch systems, USB-enabled controls, linear Hall effect switches, air-powered switches, electromechanical switches, and variable speed foot controls. Wireless foot switch systems provide equipment manufacturers with a cordless control option that may simplify cleaning procedures and help reduce potential tripping hazards associated with traditional cables. Engineering at Linemaster focuses on developing solutions that align with the operational and regulatory requirements of modern equipment. Foot switch designs often consider factors such as actuation force, electrical configuration, environmental protection, ergonomics, and durability. In medical environments, additional considerations may include patient isolation requirements, electromagnetic compatibility, fluid resistance, cleanability, and compliance with applicable medical safety standards. Continued investment in manufacturing capabilities, automated testing equipment, and facility improvements has strengthened Linemaster’s ability to support OEM partners worldwide. Each product is developed and tested to help ensure consistent performance in environments where dependable operator control is required. While Linemaster has grown significantly since its founding, the company continues to prioritize customer support, product quality, and long-term partnerships with equipment manufacturers. Linemaster’s engineering, manufacturing, and sales team work closely with customers throughout the design and development process to help ensure each solution aligns with the needs of the equipment and its end users. Today, Linemaster foot controls are integrated into equipment used in hospitals, laboratories, and industrial facilities around the world. As technology continues to evolve, Linemaster remains focused on advancing foot control solutions while maintaining the reliability, engineering standards, and manufacturing expertise that have defined the company for more than seventy years.

New Foot Switch Friday is live! This week, we're comparing head-to-head the 971-SM single momentary against the TWIN 971-SMC48. If you've ever wondered why you can't just use two separate foot switches instead of a twin, this video answers that question. The electrical interlock on the twin is the reason, and it matters more than you'd think. Watch the full breakdown now.

Big moments come down to control.
As the finals tip off, we’re celebrating the kind of performance we know best: reliable foot switches built to respond when precision matters most.
No buzzer beaters needed. Just control you can count on. 🏀

Wireless convenience means nothing without control.
Wireless medical foot switches reduce cable clutter and improve mobility in surgical environments, but the work that matters most happens behind the signal. Secure pairing, signal validation, and protocols that prevent cross-device interference are what make wireless viable in a medical setting.

Last Friday, a group of team members headed over to for a full day of team building. PE teachers Jeff, Nick, and Adam led them through a series of physical challenges built around communication and trust. Starting in the Alumni Fieldhouse with icebreakers and team activities, moving into harness and belay training, and finishing on WA’s outdoor ropes course. It was a great day. Thank you to the Woodstock Academy team for pushing our crew and creating an awesome experience. If your team is looking for something like this, reach out to Jeff Boshka at [email protected] for more information.

The OR is not the place for a foot switch to almost work. It needs to respond when it's supposed to, hold up to repeated use, stand up to cleaning, and stay consistent when everything around it demands focus. That's where the difference shows. Some foot switches are made to check a box. Linemaster foot switches are designed for the moments where that box actually matters.

Designed to respond only when you mean it.
Our Director of Engineering, Sean Lewis, breaks down tilt detection and orientation protection to help prevent accidental activation by disabling input when a foot switch is lifted, tipped, or out of position. Combined with higher actuation-force options, these features enable more controlled, intentional operation in medical environments. Learn more at the link in the comments
