Woodstock Union High School’s Yoh Theatre Players is a program based on the premise that all students, either as participants or spectators, should have an opportunity during a four-year period to experience a variety of performances chosen from a large international body of serious, dramatic literature. There are normally four productions throughout the school year as well as summer shows. These

shows are always ambitious, challenging, lots of hard work and fun. Recent shows include PUSH: the Edge, The Wiz, The Three Musketeers, These Shining Lives, Fly by Night and many more.

Pride and Prejudice has wrapped! A bittersweet time, as five of our Yoh players took their final curtain call. We are grateful for our seniors: Sam, Mimi, Quinn, Tula, and Lia. Thank you to these extraordinary young people for all the laughter and the tears, for bringing their wholehearted selves to the stage and sharing it with us show after show, bringing beautiful stories to life and reminding us of the wonder of the theatre, and the joy of being human.

Opening night tonight! Alice by Heart is a musical about a young girl who takes refuge in a London Tube station during WWII and confronts grief, loss, and love with the help of her favorite book, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

Full description:
In the rubble of the London Blitz of World War II, Alice Spencer’s budding teen life is turned upside down, and she and her dear friend Alfred are forced to take shelter in an underground tube station. When the ailing Alfred is quarantined, Alice encourages him to escape with her into their cherished book and journey down the rabbit hole to Wonderland.

As they travel through the tale, Alice by Heart explores the poignancy of first love, coming to terms with loss, and finding the courage to move forward. This musical encourages us all to celebrate the transformational power of the imagination, even in the harshest of times.

We're headed into tech week for Alice By Heart, which goes up on Friday Dec. 12. Thursday was our Sitzprobe (which sounds like an unpleasant medical procedure but is actually German for "seated rehearsal"). The Yoh Theatre Players are excited to announce their upcoming performance of Elektra from October 3-5.

Elektra, haunted by her father's assassination, is tormented by grief; a fierce instinct for survival; and a thirst for vengeance. When her long-lost brother Orestes at last returns, she urges him to take savage and terrifying action, but at what cost?

This edition of Sophokles' electrifying and timeless play features the magisterial translation by award-winning poet, essayist and translator Anne Carson.

What is this play? An ensemble experience full of laughs and shocked audience members! This Neo-futuristic show steps away from the traditional theater experience and involves the audience in a chaotic, spontaneous and amusing rendition of 30 plays in 60 minutes. Each two-minute play is performed in random order. An onstage 60-minute timer keeps everyone honest. This collection of comic, tragic, political, personal, and abstract plays gives you the chance to program your evening to reflect the lives and experiences of your own ensemble. Go!
