🎤 We love it when a vocalist steps up at JOTS!

We had the pleasure of hearing some terrific vocals at last night’s jam, and it added a whole different energy to the evening.

We don’t get as many singers as instrumentalists, and we’d love to see more of you join us. If you sing jazz standards, grab a tune, bring your chart if you have one, and come sit in with the band.

Our apologies to everyone who tried to watch last night's Jazz on the Square jam on Facebook Live. We had a technical issue with the live stream, and unfortunately only a few seconds made it to Facebook.

The good news is that we recorded the entire evening! 🎶

🎺 Jazz on the Square is back THIS FRIDAY! 🎷

One of the best things about our Jazz on the Square jams is never knowing exactly who will step up to the bandstand. Young musicians, seasoned players, familiar faces and first-timers all come together for one night of live jazz.

This Friday, August 21, join us in Woodstock for another great night of music, community and spontaneous jazz.

Come to play. Come to listen. Bring a friend. And help us keep live jazz thriving in McHenry County.

The rhythm section holding it down at Jazz on the Square.

Piano, bass, and drums are the foundation that gives every soloist something to build on, and nights like this remind us how much great jazz depends on musicians listening, reacting, and creating together in the moment.

When the rhythm section gets a moment to shine.

Our Jazz on the Square house bassist, Ron Brown, cooking on a terrific upright bass solo with just a light hi-hat underneath.

Beyond everything he contributes as a musician, we also appreciate his generosity in allowing other experienced bassists to play his instrument during our sessions when appropriate.
