Ever wanted to own a harness racehorse and earn the purse money that it wins during an actual race? This year --- during the Shenandoah County Fair --- five lucky attendees will get that unique opportunity courtesy of the VHHA! One name will be drawn each afternoon from fans attending the County Fair harness races (Wednesday Sept. 2 thru Saturday Sept. 5) and another will be drawn closing day from entries submitted at the Shenandoah Downs display booth in the exhibit building. Those five winners will return to the track on Sunday September 20 and compete for a $5,000 purse --- as horse owners for a day. Details on the fall racing season are at shenandoahdowns.com.

LIVESTOCK: All 4/H Livestock must be on the grounds by NOON ON SATURDAY 8/29; All OPEN Livestock (With the exception of DAIRY) must be on the grounds by 4:00 on SATURDAY 8/29!!

Check out Saturday’s Wiener Dog championship race at Colonial Downs Racetrack in New Kent, VA! The fun comes to Shenandoah Downs in Woodstock on Sunday October 11. Fans of all ages will enjoy an afternoon of harness racing, dachshund racing. $1 hot dogs and free admission. Register your pure bred dachshund via the Shenandoahdowns.com website under the Events tab.
