Twyla Tharp is coming to Woodstock on June 27th to do a TEDx talk and a live masterclass, and here's why you should get excited about it.
Twyla is best known as a revolutionary American choreographer, dancer and director who pioneered a unique style merging classical ballet precision with modern dance, jazz, and everyday street movements. She is also highly celebrated for her groundbreaking choreography on stage and in films, such as Miloš Forman’s Hair, Ragtime, and Amadeus, and for creating high-energy dance musicals like Movin' Out.
Her monumental career spans over 160 works, earning her a Tony Award, two Emmys, and the National Medal of the Arts.
And when she's not crushing it in the worlds of dance, film, and stage, she's also found the time to write several books, one of which is called, "The Creative Habit," where she talks about how creativity is a skill built through discipline, preparation, and routine, not just a mysterious gift.
So if you're feeling creatively stuck, Twila can guide you in overcoming your blocks, reigniting your passion, and developing long-term habits to fuel you for the long-term.
