What to Expect at Parkside Gallery This Weekend 🎨📸

The Northwoods Art Tour is about more than simply stopping in to look at art — and we have a pretty great weekend planned here at Parkside Gallery.

If we’re on your Art Tour route this Friday, Saturday or Sunday, here’s a little of what you can expect:

🎨 Robert Metropulos
Of course, Bob will be here with a gallery full of his original wildlife and Northwoods artwork, prints, new pieces and plenty of stories behind them. You’ll also have the chance to see his brand-new original, “Last Light Crossing,” in person.

🎨 Jeannine Achauer
We’re excited to welcome Jeannine back after having her join us during the summer Art Tour! She’ll be bringing her beautiful oil paintings and sharing her work with visitors throughout the weekend.

📸 Shannon Brimmer Photography
We’re also excited to welcome Shannon Brimmer Photography to Parkside Gallery! Shannon will be joining us with her photography, adding an entirely different medium and perspective to the artwork you’ll get to experience here.

🦅 A special giveaway
While you’re here, make sure you enter to win a print of Bob’s newest painting, “Last Light Crossing.” Entries are in-person only during the Art Tour, but you do not need to be present when Bob draws the winner Sunday evening.

And beyond all of that? Come wander. Ask questions. Meet the artists. Spend some time in the gallery and Romey Park. See pieces up close that just don’t translate the same way through a screen.

Friday, October 9 – Sunday, October 11
10 AM–5 PM each day

We’re looking forward to opening the doors and sharing Parkside Gallery with you for another Northwoods Art Tour weekend. 🤍

EXCITING NEWS — PARKSIDE GALLERY IS DOING A GIVEAWAY! 🦅🎉

With the Northwoods Art Tour returning to Parkside Gallery this weekend, Bob decided it was only fitting to do something a little special.
He’s giving away a print of his brand-new painting, “Last Light Crossing!”

This is Bob’s newest release, and now one lucky Art Tour visitor will get to take a print home.

There’s just one catch: you have to stop into Parkside Gallery during the Northwoods Art Tour to enter!

We’ll be open for the tour:
Friday, October 9 | 10–5
Saturday, October 10 | 10–5
Sunday, October 11 | 10–5

Stop in anytime throughout the weekend, enjoy the gallery, see Bob’s newest work in person, and get your name entered into the drawing.

You do NOT need to be present to win. Bob will draw one lucky winner at the end of the day on Sunday!

We had so much fun with our last giveaway, and we’re pretty excited that one of the very first prints of Last Light Crossing will be finding a home this weekend. 🤍

Introducing Bob’s newest painting — “Last Light Crossing.” 🦅

Fresh off the easel and now hanging at Parkside Gallery.

There’s something immediately commanding about this one. The eagle in full flight, the incredible detail through every feather, and that last bit of warm light breaking through the cool, hazy landscape behind him.

It’s bold up close, but there’s a softness to the background that gives the entire painting a sense of distance and movement — almost like you’ve caught him crossing through the landscape just before the light disappears.

“Last Light Crossing” is an original acrylic by Robert Metropulos, and the original is still available at the gallery at this time.

That said… if you already know you’d love to make this one yours, we probably wouldn’t wait too long. There have already been a few conversations happening around this piece, and while nothing is official just yet, it may not be hanging without a new home for long. 👀

And as beautiful as it is here, this is absolutely one you’ll want to see in person.

There’s a whole side of Bob’s work that you may not have seen quite like this.

Over the years, Bob has created an incredible collection of wildlife artwork for duck, turkey, pheasant and other state and federal stamp competitions. Some have gone on to become winning stamp designs, but every one began as a full piece of artwork — with the same detail, color and attention Bob brings to everything he paints.

Many of these pieces are still available today as prints, giving them a life that goes far beyond the competition they were originally created for.

And this part of Bob’s work is still very much being written.

Right now, several brand-new pieces are in the hands of judges across the country, including Bob’s federal entry, all competing for spots on 2027 wildlife stamps.

We can’t share those just yet… but while we wait, there are plenty of beautiful ones to page through here in the gallery with various print/framing options available. 🦆🦃

Another jersey on Bob’s framing table. 🏈

There’s a little more to framing a jersey than simply putting it behind glass. Getting it positioned just right, keeping the fabric laying naturally, choosing a frame and matting that complement it without competing with it — it all matters in the finished piece.

Bob recently had the privilege of working on this Packers jersey, and we thought we’d share a little peek before it makes its way into the frame.

One of the fun parts of custom framing is that no two projects that come through the door are ever quite the same.

Artwork, jerseys, memorabilia and everything in between — you never quite know what Bob will be working on next.

This is one of those ones you really need to see in person.

Photos can show you the subject. They can show you the colors. But they don’t quite capture what makes this original by Bob so striking.

The layers of color throughout the pheasants’ feathers are incredible. The fine detail carries all the way through the grasses and barn behind them. And because you’re looking at the original acrylic, there’s a texture and dimension to the paint itself that simply doesn’t translate through a screen.

It’s bold. It’s incredibly detailed. And depending on where you stand, you find yourself noticing something different.

If you’re in the gallery, this is one to get up close to. The original is even better than the photograph gives it credit for.

There’s a reason you look twice when something dark moves through the ferns.

One minute, it’s nothing but green. The next, there’s a black bear quietly making his way through the bracken.

That fleeting moment is the heart of “Bracken Hollow.” Not a dramatic encounter or a posed wildlife scene — just one of those unexpected glimpses that comes with living in bear country.

And if you’ve spent enough time in the Northwoods, you probably know the feeling.

There’s something striking about a snowy owl against the muted colors of a Northwoods winter. Almost perfectly camouflaged at first glance, until those unmistakable golden eyes catch yours.

In “Snowy Sentinel,” Bob captures that quiet, watchful presence beautifully — perched above the snow, completely still, yet seemingly aware of everything around it.

It’s a piece where the closer you look, the more Bob’s attention to detail begins to show — from the owl’s feathering to the weathered fence post and strands of barbed wire below.
