Senior Suburban Orchestra

The Senior Suburban Orchestra is a 40+ piece orchestra under the direction of Dan Pasquale D'Andrea.

They are currently based at Woodridge United Methodist Church in Woodridge. The Senior Suburban Orchestra (SSO) provides an opportunity for older musicians to continue playing their instruments on a regular basis as members of an active and challenging performance organization. As a community service organization, the SSO gives educational and entertaining performances to those lacking the physica

l mobility or financial resources to attend traditional public programs. Additionally, the SSO provides an innovative concert/workshop experience for elementary school children in their own schools. To contact us:

Our July sightreading of Dvorak's New World Symphony was a success.
Please feel free to join us for our second summer sightreading session will on Tuesday, August 11th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. at Woodridge United Methodist Church, 2700 75th St, Woodridge,
On the menu will be Gershwin’s An American in Paris, Barber’s Second Essay, Op. 17, and Riegger’s Dance Rhythms, Op. 58.

There are openings for all strings and selected woodwinds, brass and percussion. There is no charge to participate and no age limit. Bring your own instrument and stand.

Join the SSO on Tuesday, July 21st from 1:00 to 3:15 pm at Woodridge United Methodist Church, 2700 75th St, Woodridge, Illinois for our first summer sight reading session. During the July session, we will read Symphony No. 9, Op. 95 (New World Symphony) by Dvorak.

The SSO was well represented at The Grove Foundation's annual Passport to Dining Fundraiser. As always, it was a fun evening for a good cause! The Grove Foundation has consistently supported SSO with their annual grants.

COMING SOON...SSO invites you to attend our spring Family and Friends Concert on Saturday, May 30th. The event, scheduled for 2:00 pm will be held in the Sanctuary at Woodridge United Methodist Church, 2700 75th Street in Woodridge.

The SSO will celebrate America's 250th anniversary with a program of patriotic music, music of the American composer, Aaron Copeland, as well as Duke Ellington. We'll finish our concert with a sing-along of familiar songs from The Sound of Music.

There is no charge for the concert, however donations are appreciated. A reception with light refreshments will follow the concert.
