Pistols for Two
May 12, 2025, 6:30p

A satirical sendup of the regency romance novel, Pistols for Two has all the expected stereotypical events (daring escapades, mistaken identities, obligatory pistols at dawn, and even a flight to Gretna Green!) and stereotypical characters (the dashing romantic hero and the innocent, yet headstrong heroine, the spitfire maid, the disapproving father) that we expect in a historical romance. But what happens when their stories get mixed up? This adaptation of three of Georgette Heyer's short stories captures all the gallantry, mischief, and elegance that romance and comedy fans adore. The stories of our three heroines are interwoven as they navigate affairs of honor and the heart—while reading each other’s stories. True love triumphs in the end—though not without a few twists along the way.

In the madcap comedy tradition of Lend Me a Tenor, the hilarious Moon Over Buffalo centers on George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950s. At the moment, they’re playing Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac in rep in Buffalo, New York with five actors. On the brink of a disastrous split-up caused by George’s dalliance with a young ingénue, they receive word that they might just have one last shot at stardom: Frank Capra is coming to town to see their matinee, and if he likes what he sees, he might cast them in his movie remake of The Scarlet Pimpernel. Unfortunately for George and Charlotte, everything that could go wrong does go wrong, abetted by a visit from their daughter’s clueless fiancé and hilarious uncertainty about which play they’re actually performing, caused by Charlotte’s deaf, old stage-manager mother who hates every bone in George’s body.

The Miracle Worker

THE MIRACLE WORKER is the tremendous, heartwarming story of an incredible friendship and bond between a teacher, Annie Sullivan, and her deaf and blind student, Helen Keller. Set in Tuscumbia, Alabama Helen renders an illness at 18 months old that leaves her blind and deaf. Her parents, who pity and spoil their afflicted daughter, are desperate to have order, hire a young Annie Sullivan to try and reach the mind of Helen. After many battles and disciplined weeks together, Annie breaks through to Helen, giving her a connection to language and all the world has to offer.
