Great zoo gigs this weekend ! Today is Frank Maurers birthday. He is 85 yrs old today. He has spent his entire life dedicated to wildlife preservation. He and his late wife purchased a large amount of land near Baryessa for the sake of protecting it. Today he rehomed his baby Emu to MimiZ Petting Zoo. We have had many discussions over the past several weeks. He is a man with a wealth of knowledge to share. He told me today that I was a mirror image of him many years ago. That was the biggest compliment 🙏 Happy Birthday Frank ! Meet EMUleo Estevez. He is my EMUtional support animal 😚 who had a very stressful day. We ended it with snuggles and he fell fast asleep in my arms ...or ...he had a syncopal episode. I choose to believe it was a comfort nap 😉

Itsy bitsy spun his last web. This web was different than all of the other webs. He completely covered his habitat just before his molt ...his last molt ...as if he knew. He knew me ...when guests would hold him, he would always lift his leg to my hand ...an odd connection..to a spider ..but all living things have feelings ..he gave so many guests laughter and bravery ...goodbye itsy bitsy. I'd never thought I'd feel an emotion towards a spider 🕷️ (not looking for sympathy- just a respect for all living creatures) and ..the evolvement of being terrified of spiders to feeling comfortable around them. if you happen to have a tarantula that needs a new home 🫣 the guests really loved the experience

Such a blessed day. Great guests and a new addition joined us today - meet "little bunny foo foo " (you know you finished that in your head ). He is the sweetest and was cuddled all day. Thankful for being chosen for his new fur mama 🙏 and just look at those clouds today !
