ACE OF CUPS

The Moon in Cancer and the Ace of ups bring a lot of overbearing emotions that threaten to overwhelm us with their power. Being ruled by the Moon, Cancer may leave us feeling as if we are riding an emotional roller coaster. In this image the overflowing water comes to life in the form of undines, the mythical creatures of waterfalls and streams. Emotions can easily take on a life of their own and control us if we aren't aware of them. The Ace of Cups underscores the importance of holding space feel our emotions, whether they be good or bad. You cannot heal what you cannot feel.

TWO OF WANDS & ACE OF SWORDS

The TWO OF WANDS marks the beginning of a process. A young man grasps a wand in his right hand, and holds the Earth in his left – symbols of his power. Standing high above the town, we also see him as an authority figure. He makes informed decisions from a place of high-minded thinking. Now is not a time to doubt yourself. you can move forward with confidence knowing that you have the skills and expertise to get the job done.

The ACE OF SWORDS reminds us how powerful the mind can be in shaping how we feel about ourselves. Sometimes it sends us messages that do not reflect reality, so we need to learn how to read the information we are getting with a discriminating mind. When you find that you are losing confidence in yourself, ask if that's a true reflection of what you have accomplished, or is that your mind fixating only on the things that went wrong? The angel holds the sword tilted at a 45 degree angle, suggesting its desire to remain bias-free and emotionally detached. Don't wed yourself to any particular viewpoint. Consider all of the evidence with equal regard.

TEN OF PENTACLES

Look closely at pentacles in this card, and you'll notice that they aren't arranged in any random order, but in the shape of the Kabbalistic Tree of Life. This Tree of Life is also situated in front of a gateway, suggesting that the Ten of Pentacles marks the entry point from one place to another. Even though the Suit of Pentacles represents physicality, as well as the dense element of Earth, the Ten of Pentacles shows us that our material and spiritual lives are closely intertwined with one another, and that one affects the other in ways that we may not consciously realize.

No matter how little you have, the Ten of Pentacles advises you to be grateful for what you've got, especially if you tend to take certain things for granted. Maybe you don't feel rich because your bank account is dwindling near zero. But if you focus on the roof over your head, the food in your fridge, and the clothes you've got to wear, you might realize that you are richer than you realize. The Universe doesn't always deliver what you want, but it always gives you what you need. In that sense, we are all wealthy.

The Ten of Pentacles also reminds us that the physical and ethereal realms work hand-in-hand with one another. If you are constantly giving thanks for what you've got, even if those things are basic necessities, then you are training yourself to cultivate an abundance mindset and aligning your energy to receive more. And those who approach life with an abundance mindset are able to easily generate more abundance without having to try too hard. That's what we call magic.

EIGHT OF SCROLLS

The soothsayer is trained in the art of reading signs that other people miss. Appearing here in the Eight of Scrolls, she helps us understand the higher-order lessons behind everyday, mundane events. During times of accelerated growth the Universe sends us multiple messages that we are on the right track. If you need a sign, then ask for one and look around you. Today the Universe send you confirmation of what you already know to be true. It may come though non-traditional means. Watch out for numbers, signs, symbols, phrases, or images that appear before you repeatedly throughout the day. Those are signs that your guides are nearby, watching over and protecting you.

FIVE OF CUPS, ACE OF CUPS & THE HERMIT

This weekend's cards describe feelings of heartbreak around the loss of something or someone whom you are emotionally invested in.

The FIVE OF CUPS presents a picture of emotional strife. Sometimes the words to express how we feel elude us, but we find other ways to process the grief, such as this horse whose head hangs in sadness. Although there is some light above, all that he sees is the darkness below. Adjacent to the Ace of Cups, this card speaks to emotional intensity. Instead of distracting ourselves with outside concerns, sometimes it's best to do nothing and feel the pain all the way through.

The ACE OF CUPS calls on us to pay special attention to your emotions, which may not always be so easily felt. Sometimes this is because when we lose something, we do everything in our power to distract ourselves from the pain incurred by that loss. Take, for example, the practice of β€œrebounding” with a new partner after a significant relationship has ended. Rebound relationships rarely last because its an attempt to delude yourself into thinking that what has been lost can easily be replaced. But in reality, its impossible to replicate any one person or relationship. You cannot find in someone else the same exact qualities that you enjoyed in another.

THE HERMIT is about taking some time alone to understand yourself better. Corresponding to Virgo, we need that time to analyze our feelings. And adjacent to the Ace of Cups, The Hermit is also about taking a moment for self-reflection, particularly the role that you played in creating the present situation. It's a brave thing to learn how to be on your own. But finding that strength within yourself leads you to a place of greater emotional stability.

ACE OF WANDS

The Ace of Wands brings an injection of energy to carry us through the day. We are well-positioned to care of business and get things done, especially new projects that we've been meaning to get off the ground for some time now. When Aces appear, its time to plant your seeds for whatever you want to manifest in the future.

The green mountains in the background represent the dynamic fire energy that exists underneath the Earth's core in the form of shifting tectonic plates. It may feel as if the earth beneath our feet is solid and stable, but thousands of feet beneath it's surface lies an ocean of swirling magma and molten rock that occassionally give rise to a volcanos, mountains, and earthquakes. A situation that was once stable over a long period of time may suddenly shift, prompting you to take quick and sudden action. Prepare yourself for the unexpected.

Fire generally burns whatever comes across its path, but destruction needs to happen before we can create something new. What actions can you take to usher in that change? How can you position yourself to benefit from what's coming?

THE EMPRESS & THE STAR

With the glyph of Venus engraved on her heart-shaped shield, THE EMPRESS reminds us that love is the most powerful healing force in the world. And as the mother archetype in the Tarot, The Empress is a parent who reminds us how important it is to nourish our children with care and protection. Children who know what it feels like to be loved by their parents grow up to be adults who feel confident, and know how to give and receive love in healthy ways. If you're a parent and you want to make the world a better place, you don't need to go out of your way to change the status quo. Simply be there for your kid.

Today's cards speak to healing wounds caused by our maternal relationships. Everyone has a mother, but not everyone has a positive relationship with their mother, and so a decision is made to keep one's distance. Aquarius ushers in emotional detachment, but THE STAR also reminds us of our individuality, and Venus in Aquarius describes someone who loves in ways that few understand. All mothers love their children, but that love is not always expressed in ways that resonates with the child. I harbored years of resentment against my mother, until I realized that criticism and control is how she expresses love. The Star helps us accept others for who they are. All we can ask of people is that they do their best with the tools they were given.

THREE OF CUPS

No man is an island. We all need support from one another to get by in the world, especially emotional support. The Three of Cups speaks to the times when we rely on our inner circle of friends to understand where we are coming from and validate what we feel. In this particular version of the Three of Cups each woman wears a different colored dress, signifying that each brings unique skills and perspectives to the table. Maybe the woman in blue is an expert at detecting how people feel, while the woman in red spurs her friends to take action when it's needed and the woman in green grounds everyone in what is real and practical. When working in isolation their strengths don't take them that far. But when you combine their talents, they become an unstoppable force.

Today we are being reminded to appreciate our friends for who they are, as we rely on them to fill in gaps that we ourselves lack. No one person is exactly like you, nor will they always see eye-to-eye with you. That is a good thing, as it takes all kinds to make the world turn.

Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius 11:11am PST

FOUR OF PENTACLES

Today's card highlights our material and financial foundations. Maybe we need to take a look at our material situation and ask ourselves if you are living at the level of security that we desire. If not, what needs to change in order for you to get there?

Some people accuse the man in the Four of Pentacles as being somewhat of a miser. His closed-off body language and his tight grasp on the coins suggest that he has his mind on his money and his money on his mind. It's what consumes the most of his thoughts, and he's very concerned with hanging onto it. Maybe he's not accustomed to spreading his money around, but look where that attitude has gotten him. Behind him we see strong, sturdily built fortresses that scale the hillside. Despite the odds, he's done well for himself and has gone well beyond meeting his basic security needs.

Remember that a dollar not spent is a dollar that you won't have to earn down the road. The Four of Pentacles approaches money from a conservative angle. There's a time for giving to charity, but its not when you are financially unstable. Spend wisely and save where you can. It's not about being cheap, but about making sure you are getting a good value for your money.

Lastly, the Four of Pentacles reminds us that we are allowed to feel proud of what we have built up and amassed for ourselves. There's something to be admired about someone who knows how to take care of him or herself and live large to boot.

Since today's lunar eclipse is happening in the individualistic sign of Aquarius, signalling an abrupt shift in the way we handle money and invest our resources. We may want to take the time to consider whether our money is truly safe being handled by certain institutions. How can you utilize your resources in a way that safeguards you?

ACE OF WANDS & THE MOON

Today's cards present us with an interesting mix of yin and yang energies, as if we are being pulled in two different directions. Where the ACE OF WANDS talks about taking action and being outwards orientated, THE MOON is about dormancy, inner reflection, and exploring the contours of the imagination.

When combined, these cards advise us that we need to be proactive in creating the emotional and mental space needed to look within and understand the hidden aspects of who we really are. This might take us to a frightful place, as delving into the subconscious mind can potentially lead us to dredge up old wounds and fears. Sometimes we avoid going there by keeping busy in our outer lives, rationalizing that if everything looks fine on the outside that's all that matters. But if we avoid going within indefinitely, unhealed wounds that exist on the inside will eventually spill over into our outer lives. The Moon always comes full circle.

Today is about taking an initial step to carve out some β€œme” time from your busy schedule and consciously making space for inner healing to begin. Aces always bring fresh starts, so this may require a big shake-up in your priorities.

TWO OF SWORDS & SEVEN OF RODS

Not every battle is worth fighting. Even if you end up β€œwinning,” there were things that have to be given up so you can devote your energy to the conflict. In the TWO OF SWORDS, a man fixates his attention on a skirmish between two men. Behind him, two swords stand upright in the sand, not too far away from some pretty tumultuous waves. Despite the rise and fall of the tide, the swords remain where they are, just as clear and logical thinking can steady us through up and down emotions.

You know you've lost the battle when you lose your cool. Giving in to your immediate reactions doesn't always lead you in the right direction, especially if those responses control you rather than the other way around. Next time you feel anger on the rise, take a moment to breathe and practice non-reaction. Only from a place of calm can a reasoned decision be made. In this place, we can see that not every offense to your ego requires a response, especially if your time and resources would be better spent getting something productive done. Ask yourself, β€œWhat do I lose by engaging this battle?” If the answer is more than what you stand to win, then walk away.
