Do you really have to let a tealight candle burn all the way down once you light it?
We’ve always been told that once you light a tealight, you should let it burn until it’s completely finished. If you blow it out halfway through, it might not burn properly when you relight it. It could tunnel, develop a tiny flame, or leave unburned wax behind.
Well, my recent burn tests made me question that!
I tested three tealight candles on different days and at different times. Each time, I had to blow them out after about 1–2 hours, then relight them the next day.
To my surprise, all three burned beautifully until the very end, with no wax left behind!
Of course, these are just my own tests, and results may vary depending on the wax, wick, and container.
I’m curious: Have you ever relit a partially burned tealight? Did it burn just as well the second time?
