So humbled and grateful for this acknowledgment, which of course if it’s coming to me is also really for the multitudes of others who have guided and supported me these past almost two years. And so happy my mom was there to share in it, as she’s my first inspiration as an entrepreneur and human. ❤️🥰

Yes I promise a fuller update and pics of all our progress in the studio is coming, but look who has a grown up headshot! Thank you so much Michelle Caudle of Silver Moon Photography for getting these done so quickly for me. As one who is far more comfy behind the scenes, she made the entire experience fun and relaxing. If you attend the Forward Together Conference & Awards next week, you’ll see this mug again as I’ll be there to gratefully accept an award for Innovator of the Year. 😳🤯

Could not be happier to inaugurate one of our new kilns with mugs for Kim Roney’s fundraiser! Most of the team was in studio last week, so we paused our upfit/new production craziness to have a group decorating session. Very pleased with the results, both for the mugs and the kiln!

These and many other beautiful handmade pieces will be available at the fundraiser on August 27 at Garden Party in West Asheville. Proceeds go to help her find her campaign.
Be ‘bout it being better!

Once again I’m behind on updates, but we’re getting so much done it’s just hard to stop! The coming newsletter will be delayed but also longer with all the progress - we’ve had just about the whole crew in working over the last week, starting production as a way to begin fulfillment on wholesale orders, start some trainings, and see what is still needed. Today Zack, with essential assist from Sprinkle, finished building our second ware shelf cart (he’s 5’10”, for size reference). The ToothPig production area is in place and pigs are in all stages of making, and the shipping area is in place and we’re just awaiting some upgrades equipment. And the cherry on top of this glorious and crazy week is that our first glaze kiln is running - a light load for the first one but it includes some very special pots I can’t wait to see. As always, stay tuned!

Update still coming soon- we’re in the final stages of getting everything functioning, and we’re almost all in one place! This little box of tools made its way to the studio today, as a small but significant symbol of that near completeness and of deep gratitude. This box holds tools specific to making the Cúrate ToothPigs. I have been making these cuties for over 13 years, and I am so grateful to have my work be part of their brand and beloved by so many. I love getting tagged by collectors and seeing them in their new homes! Cúrate’s support is a huge part of what sustained me and my crew over the past 18+ months. Those who have followed since the hurricane may remember my grateful astonishment to find this box in tact with all tools, somehow landed on the corner of a work table in my studio (not where it was when I locked up pre-storm), when everything else was upside down and otherwise destroyed. I took it as my first hopeful sign that there was life on the other side of the devastation.

We have also been so fortunate to be hosted in Tim (and Cassie!) Kerns’ home studio for the past 20 months, and we have just completed the most recent order. This week we will move clay, carts, wet boxes and piggies in progress to our new production studio (and promptly begin working on the next order!). And while there are still many things to complete in our upfit, we will finally all be in one place, working together. So grateful. ❤️

New studio update coming soon, but this morning I’m enjoying the first cup brewed and about to enjoy the first clay wedged and thrown. Still lots to get/do/build/stock, but loving this sweet ‘breaking in’ of the new space. It will be even sweeter once I can have my full team in here with me, but enjoying this moment and feeling so deeply grateful.

Appreciation Post- this fine, hardworking, severely sweaty group of humans made quick work of moving the stored studio materials from my house to the new space, and also got my new kiln off the pallet and into place. We celebrated by getting to Centerville Luncheonette at the perfect time to order breakfast or lunch, and then Sprinkle and I returned to the space for a bit of light organizing and put together the greenhouse that will become a sort of wet box/slow dry room.

So grateful for this support, and it gets more and more real every day!!

Upfit Update #4:

If you were among the admirers of Zack’s handiwork on our wedging tables, check out one of our first work tables! We’ll be having him build more for us as we can, but this will get us started nicely. Other highlights of the week include the full installation of our new sink and hot water heater, and a provisional refurb of our slab roller - sorry I didn't get to snap pics but you'll be seeing everything soon enough! Steve Fox Electrician and Honest Abe Plumbing have been more than amazing in getting everything installed and hooked up for us so quickly, and Jerry and Emily at The Mill continue to be available for every question along the way with so much support. Every day is a confirmation that I'm in the right place!

I’m at the point now where I’m focused on the pivotal elements that will let us work to get back to full production. We still need to move the small kiln into place and get the exhaust vents installed so we can test fire both kilns, and this week we will also move the rest of the studio storage from my garage (then just two more moves after that!).

As anyone who’s done this knows, money flows out much faster than it comes in when doing upfits and preparing to move, and as we’ve been only able to work on one account during the upfits and moving (for which I am SO grateful!), the imbalance is even more keenly felt between income and expense, and the closer we get to fully moving in and to production again, expenses are multiplying. Extra thanks to those clients patiently awaiting our return to production - trust me we are eager to make your pots!

Many, many thanks to all who have been making donations and offers to help on the moves (I've got a stellar crew for this week's move!) - info about how to donate is at my website (https://www.crazygreenstudios.com/help-rebuild-cgs.html ), and my deepest thanks again for every donation and share. I am also filling out every grant I find and am seeking financing to ensure operating expenses are covered while we get our feet under us in our new home after almost two years of nomadic studio life! The artists who work with me (Sprinkle, Kris, Tim, and now Kristen!) have been incredible over this time, working in one of three spaces (sometimes two in one day!) with such grace and good spirit and going above and beyond - they are the absolute best humans and I am in awe.

And thanks to all here who have been cheering us on - I certainly feel it and it keeps me going! xoxo

Upfit Update #3 is posted in full on our GoFundMe (link in bio - too many words for here!). But in short:

Electrics are done, plumbing is almost done (sink is delivered!), oval kiln is wired, other kiln to be unpacked today. Wedging tables are done and work tables and slab roller refurb in process. It’s mind boggling how quickly it’s all happening, but as fast as we get things done, the list of what needs doing seems to keep growing!

As wonderful and fast as it’s all happening, we’ve had to pause most production to attend the upfit needs and prep for moving from multiple separate locations. All the planned, and many not planned, expenses are coming at us fast and furious, and with revenues paused it means our pool of resources is being quickly drained. I am in the process of exploring financing, and applying for grants, but to help bridge the gap between now and when we’re at full capacity, we have a GoFundMe, as well as the ability to receive tax-deductible donations through our Fiscal Sponsor, The Village Potters Foundation. Every form of support is most deeply appreciated.
