ALL FOR ARTISTS
“PATTERN PLAY”: A Gallery on Main Juried Art Exhibit
Patterns give shape and meaning to the world around us, which helps to create order, balance and symmetry. Patterns surround us, both in nature and in man’s creations.
The human brain constantly processes, recognizes and predicts patterns to understand our environment.
We remember and learn by storing and encoding patterns and can predict upcoming events by recognizing these stored patterns. This pattern recognition ability is the foundation of human intelligence and allows for complex thought, language and creativity.
All 2-D & 3-D artists are invited to submit up to 3 artworks investigating how patterns and repetition can create new understandings and interpretations by exploring rhythm, harmony and movement in a composition. All mediums are welcome. Exhibit is limited to
approximately 24 pieces. Submissions will be juried by a peer panel. Evaluations will be based on composition, impact, creativity, technical ex*****on and consistency with the theme.

Gallery on Main is pleased to welcome our next Guest Artist, Steve Beal!

Steve Beal is a painter and musician living in Metuchen, New Jersey. He works primarily in Watercolor using a “wet-in-wet” technique in order to bring out the dramatic interplay between colors and to create an organic feel to shape and composition. Steve makes use of light and shadow to inform depth and
perspective in his work.

He has been the subject of many exhibits throughout New York and New Jersey. Steve had recently relocated to New York City for a period of 3 years to complete his 43 year career as a Construction Executive.

He is happy to be back in Metuchen; a great town that affords him many opportunities to share his art and music with a very eclectic community. In particular, he is thrilled to be sharing his work at Gallery on Main in Woodbridge.

Mid-summer is the season for growth and we are inviting artists to join us for an evening of artistic exchange.
Bring a work in progress for feedback, casual critique or discussion.
Whether you are creatively STUCK or just need a fresh perspective, a supportive low-pressure evening might just be the refreshing boost you are looking for.
We’ll provide the ice-cold lemonade and cookies and together we can “squeeze out” new insights and “sweeten” the creative process.
